At the very end of the trail, perched high on a private 70 acre ridge, Camp Winona is surrounded by thousands more acres of woods, streams, trails...

Skyline Dr. turns right just before rugged Sawyer Notch... The road winds upward through the beech and birch forest, onto the ridge top. Another mile to the end of the road. Here you park your car and load your gear into the wagon or sled (in winter). The last 800' is by foot on a trail with breathtaking views of the mountains and valley. In a minute or two, you catch a glimpse of your little cabin through the trees; you are there!

This classic rustic Maine hand-crafted log 'trappers' cabin sits amid the towering pines on 70 wooded acres. Neat as a pin and clean as a whistle, you won't find a TV here or any intrusions for that matter. Only the real necessities in life. But...

I highly recommend this secluded gem high up on a ridge with breath taking views. Your host are VERY accommodating and very friendly. The cabin is well equipped, all you need is your food. Clean, cozy and comfy!! Lots to do if you like to...More

Hike the Appalachian Trail, only two miles north in Sawyer Notch. See a moose, a beaver dam, find moose antler sheds on a mountain top.

In summer, pan for gold in the Swift River at Coos Canyon in Byron. Swim in secluded Devil's Den gorge with refreshing pools and waterfalls. Kayak to the remote sandy beaches of undiscovered Richardson Lakes; canoe the Androscoggin River, catch rainbows. Fly fish Blue Ribbon Rapid River. ATV to a sandy beach on Silver Lake; Find moose antler sheds in an old cutting. Visit Screw Auger Falls in Grafton Notch State Park. A premier outdoor paradise! Climb old Speck or Whitecap Mt., pick blueberries while enjoying the 360 degree view.

Please Note: We are on a ridge, two miles from the pavement. November - April, AWD/4WD is required, as the weather can quickly take a turn for the worst! Snow, ice, mud, wind.... this is an outpost... that’s what makes it so cool! We don't sand the road; you need to be able to get yourselves in and out. If we can help, we will.
