Nice spacious Villa, Great views, Isolated location Limited Dining
Location:
The villa is located 20 minutes drive past sigatoka about 1hr 40min drive from Nadi airport. There roads pass through many small villages so it takes a while as you have to slow down through the villages. We booked a transfer on arrival, trying to find the driver was challenging even with a local sim but the staff are helpful atthe airport and we found him eventually.
The Villa:
The villa is located at the top of a short hill up from the main road. It may be challenging for people with walking difficulties.
We were greeted by the staff Lani and Jack on arrival and shown round the villa. There is the main house with 2 bedrooms off the living area then there are 2 other rooms located of the main building which gives them more privacy. We opted for the main bedrrom next to the pool of the main building. The bedroom is a good size and there is a walk in wardrobe and large shower for 2. All the windows have flyscreens and wooden shutters for night. There is no TV in the room which would have been nice for the raininy days. The room has aircon but we were told it is chargeable if used during the day. The bedrooms location gives it plenty of breeze through the room as it is open to the breeze on both sides. The other bedroom off the main building was stuffy inside due to the lack of air flow in that room. I would imagine you would want aircon on all day in that room. The aircon charges are not disclosed anywhere in the villa manual so unsure what it woud cost.
The living and dining room are large and spacious with pretty much everything you need for self catering. We thought this would be fantastic for cooking up delicious meals until we went to the superarket which I will get to later.
The private pool is large and deep and adequate for swimming. On hot days its the perfect temperature, but can feel a bit cold at night. Jack the maintenance guy keeps the pool well maintained and is up at 5am doing his duties. The pool lounge cushions stay out rain or shown and could do with a clean now and then.
Facilities:
For dining there is the large pantry of cooking essentials, pots, pans bowls, dishes, most things you could need. There is a pizza oven at the back we thought we could use, oven, microwave, barista coffee machine, and pod coffee machine. We took nespresso pods from australia which didnt fit the machine. We asked the staff for some and they didnt have any and you cant buy them in Fiji. The barista machine is useable just, it has lights flashing galore because it needs a new filter and cleaning, Im unsure why the staff cannot attend to it. Ground coffee is supplied but there is no decaf if thats what you want.
There is a local supermarket down the hill but good luck living a week from that store. Its basically just for snacks and drinks. We asked the staff if they could take us to sigatoka and at first they said yes as they have a car onsite. Then at the time we agreed Lani came to see us and offered to show us the bus stop. Not quite what we agreed. Then finally they said none of the staff can drive so we would need to get a taxi. They organised a taxi from the villa to sigatoka, 20 min drive and $80FJD return. We thought we could buy everything we needed here since it seemed like a good sized town although quite run down. The produce in the supermarket is poor to say the least, all the meat is frozen and processed, pretty much sausages, lamb burger patties, frozen chickens or frozen offal. There is no beef available. We had to resort to some pasta, sauce and tinned goods. Of course you cant buy pizzas in the supermarket which would explain the cleanliness of the pizza oven. We bought what we could and headed back to the villa. Lets say after we exhausted our pasta dishes we had to rely on takeaway food except for the 2 times we went to a restaurant. My advice is buy ALL your food in Nadi, they may have a better selection. Do not rely on the local supermarket.
Bars and Restaurants:
After reading the villa description it mentioned 4 restaurants within walkig distance and we thought that sounds great. Let me tell you you will be disappointed.
Restaurant #1 is at Maui Bay resort. Its a restaurant that is also the resorts reception, it is at the back of the resort so there is no view. We had fish here one night it was ok but we didnt go back since it was nothing to rave about. It is also very hot in there as there is no breeze do to the buildings around the restaurant.
Restaurant #2 Italian by the local service station. Again not a restaurant more of a takeaway, not quite sure who would want to eat their dinner while looking at a service station forecourt. The food from the Italian was very good and we used this place the most for takeaway. They can deliver but they will send it via taxi and charge you.
Restaurant #3 Burger Diner again by the local service station. Again not a restaurant again a takeaway, unless you really enjoy that service station viewt. I ordered a burger from here and it was not good. The meat did not taste good probably processed with various other meats. I did not go back here. You can see the type of food on google if you look for craigs diner maui bay fiji.
Restaurant #4 This is at the blue west villas next to the you guessed it the service station. I checked this place out on the internet and it did not look good given the state of the accomodation. It wasnt worth the risk to try it.
The only good dinner we had was at the Warwick Hotel. Also need a taxi to get here and its about 12 minutes drive away.
Verdict:
The villa itself is great if only you could buy decent produce to cook with it would have been much more enjoyable. As mentioned above the local restaurants are mostly takeaway. The local store is also the bottleshop but choice is limited and I wouldnt buy wine from there it is out on the shelf in stuffy 30C with no aircon. The local beach is average mostly shingle, pebbles and shells, you see a few people snorkelling not much else going on. Location is what made this an average score, if there were better restaurants, bars in the area would have been perfect. There a signs for restaurants and massage that you will find no longer exist, I presume covid put them out of business.
The villa should really state you NEED a car. You literally are stuck without one as to get your groceries you need some transport or to find a decent restaurant you need to drive. Also they dont mention that te Wifi is limited to 1GB per day and you will be charged if you go over. Again the charges are not clear. We bought 100GB Vodafone SIMs at the airport for $60 each, service was great with speeds up to 150Mbps. You will need this for streaming if you get hit with some rainy days.
Housekeeping service was also average. Lani would arrive about 10:30am, we would have to clean the dishes, kitchen before she arrived so we could have breakfast. She would potter around for 30 minutes then 11am gone and would not see here until the next day. On a Sunday and Monday there was no service at all, only Jack was around the housekeepers had gone offsite somewhere. I accidentally spilt uwed coffee on the coffee machine. I thought I would leave it to see if it gets cleaned up. 3 days later when we checked out it was still there. On checkout Lani could not refund my deposit as she had left it in a safe somewhere else! I just asked her to keep it and share it among the staff.
We would choose a different location next time where there is more choice of places to eat

A perfect place in paradisr
Our two-family party absolutely loved Seawinds and Maui Bay. The home is stunning, spacious, beautifully decorated, well-designed for privacy and comfort and immaculately clean. The children loved the pool and pool toys and the table tennis. The rooms have private balconies and the beds are cosy and luxurious. The elevated views from all sides of the house are beautiful. We loved cooking meals in the huge open kitchen with butler's pantry and sitting outside in the cool evening breeze to eat together. So many lovely areas to sit and relax outdoors. Gorgeous sunsets can be seen from the balcony. The showers are roomy and powerful and the many plantation shutters in each bedroom and bathroom make cooling the space easy without needing to overuse fans or aircon. We loved the open, airy design and the beautiful Fijian artefacts littered about the place.
Jack, Va and Lani are the lovely housekeepers who will look after you with care and smiles. They are so friendly and kind. The ladies offer wonderfully relaxing massages at a very reasonable price. Kimberley is a very communicative and helpful host and responds to your pre travel questions promptly.
Maui Bay itself is a real delight. Just a short walk down the hill from Seawinds you will find a fabulous sparkling blue reef with colourful fish and starfish that can be seen in the shallows and rock pools as you walk along the beach. Snorkelling here is easy with small children as there is much to see in the shallows. The village has a shop and petrol station and some very nice places to eat. The Italian Pizza shop does great cocktails whilst you wait for takeaway.
Thank you so much for the most luxurious, relaxing break and a memorable vacation. We are sure to return someday to this enchanting place.

Holiday in Paradise
We are an extended family of 9 with three children under 4 years of age and recently stayed at this amazing property. It was perfect for us with each family having a separate wing of the house. There was plenty of room in the bedrooms and the main living area. At no stage did we feel like we were under each others feet. There were plenty of separate living areas to spread out if needed. The views were stunning.
With 3 children under 4 it was necessary to roll down the blinds on the patio area to keep the children out of the pool as there is no pool fencing.
The staff at the house, Jack, Laini and Casey were very helpful and obliging. There is a dedicated massage room at the house where Laini did our massages at a very reasonable cost.
There is a short walk to the beach and going down is fine but there is a moderate hill to walk up on the way back to the house. There is a convenience store (good for the odd items), diner, spa and café a short walk away. We got a taxi into Sigatoka to do our major shop as the variety and prices were much better. Hassan, our driver had great recommendations of where to get the best fresh fruit, veges and seafood. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Beautiful villa with loads of room
Our extended family group had a wonderful time at this villa. It's tucked away in a quiet spot, with everything you need. There's room for everyone to hang out together or find a spot and have some quiet time if you want. The pool is all one depth (over children's heads) with a little shallow shelf on the side. It is a long drive from Nadi but it's worth it for the feeling of relaxation you get from being so secluded. Highly recommend for big groups (or small!).

Quiet Paradise.
After a fast paced 10 days with friends and sailing, this was the perfect place to re-group and have some quiet time. The view is spectacular - we even saw whales in the distance! And, a small market was readily available and a restaurant that delivered. We used the two poolside masters and they are well appointed and comfy. The sitting areas are expansive and wlecoming. Love it!
