About the neighborhood
Ein Kerem is by far the most romantic neighaborhood in Jerusalem. Here you will find yourself wondering in picturesque alleys spiced with authentic stone houses built in the 16th and 17th century, surrounded by beautiful gardens and orchards that are hundreds of years old. You will also find here many artists and craftsman who will be happy to show you their crafts and great hospitality. You will be able to enjoy the many coffee places and restaurants the village has to offer, or just take a stroll in one of the many routes in the woods that surround Ein Karem. This is the true biblical scenery. According to Christian tradition, John the Baptist was born in Ein Karem, leading to the establishment of many churches and monasteries. How to get there
The best way to reach Ein Karem if you are coming from out of town, is to catch the Jerusalem lite train at the Jerusalem central station (or from Jaffa st. if you arrive by Nesher shuttles) and get off at the last stop (about 10 mins. ride) at mount Herzl. From there you will catch bus # 28 that comes all day long every 15-20 mins and get off at the first stop in Ein Karem (about 2 mins. ride) which is right next to the house. Nice and very easy!
