The villa itself which has four huge air conditioned bedrooms, two lounges, a large reception and seated hand painted bar area, a dining room which can seat 14 indoors comfortably, a TV/DVD room and a study with computer/fax access. A fifth bedroom with en suite bathroom lies in its own Thai style cottage just yards away right overlooking the pool to the left of the main house and closer to the river. It also has a nice reading terrace. This room is perfect for honeymoon couples or older children wanting to be a little away from the rest. Another cottage lies at the front of the villa which is air-conditioned - both cottages have TV. One other building is a central Thai style two bedroom house which accommodates staff This building also houses the service kitchen and so called Thai style kitchen The property lies in a particularly green part of the outskirts of Chiang Mai close enough to town to be able to go in for dinner and yet far enough to be truly in the countryside. It is also very close to Hang Dong and Baan Tawai which is the handicraft/antiques/furniture center which is well worth visiting for shopping purposes. Some large shopping centers are also only a few kilometers away (Lotus, Robinson or Carrefour). The villa has been tastefully decorated with no expense barred by the owners and is floodlit at night along with the pool. For dining requirements you can choose the main mahogany dining table which comfortably seats 14 or the outdoor table under the veranda by the pool which can seat up to 8. All rooms have views of the river and only the back room does not overlook the pool. There is a large balcony on the first floor which is an extension to the upper lounge and has sweeping views of the river and pool. This can be used for sunbathing or sipping cocktails in the evening. The gardens themselves have been nicely landscaped and comprise a walkway on the banks of the river which lead on the one side to a Thai style Sala which can be used for massages or drinks overlooking the river and at the other end a small pontoon which may be used for fishing or simply contemplating the passing waters! There are also two artificial ornamental waterfalls and a lotus pond which add to the romantic effect and are also floodlit at night. The main Western kitchen in the house is particularly large well equipped with everything from microwaves to espresso coffee machines and every kind of glass or utensil that might be required .... - Villa: This was my first time visiting Chiang Mai and I absolutely loved it. There is tonnes to do and the food is exceptional everywhere you go (and very reasonable). My friends and I stayed at Baan Thip Chang for a total of 7 nights - we had initially booked 5 nights but found it so relaxing we honestly didn't want to head back to Bangkok! Thankfully we were able to extend the trip by 2 nights. The villa is exceptional. It is immediately clear when you enter, the owners have piled years of attention, personal touches and eclectic detail into it. It is spacious, and can comfortably accommodate 6 couples (or a very large family) - there are 6 very large en-suite bedrooms. - Location: The villa is nestled along the river in Hang Dong, just south of the centre. This really was a highlight for me - there are no tourists around (you really do feel like a local) and it's only 10-20 minutes to all the good attractions and restaurants. I would recommend visiting local temples, shopping in the centre (One Nimman is prob the best spot), the weekend street market, do a Segway tour of the city, visit the Grand Canyon waterpark (there are 2-3 different parks here so make sure you get the right one - the Grand Canyon is definitely the most kitted out). Check out Ginger Farm - it's only 5 mins from the villa and has the best food! Overall this was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Thailand and we will definitely be back!

If you need a place to relax, settle your mind and experience nature and local Thai culture, this place is perfect. Idyllic place that lets you relax close to nature. The interior design is truly stunning, while both spacious and comforting! The outdoor poolside lets you unwind, find peace of mind, and host one or another sunset drink occasion. During our stay we were able to take advantage of the local markets, undertook trips through the fields and nature alongside the river, and continued to explore the Thai culture. A cab will get you anywhere in just under a view minutes and everyone avid of driving a scooter will have abundant options to kick off and explore. Whether after weeks of hard work, another night out, or just to escape for a while, I couldn't imagine a more ambient place to recharge. I had an amazing stay and can emphasise my recommendation of this place!

If you want to feel like a local in Thailand, this is the place to go! Located in a sleepy riverside village, this villa was the perfect retreat. The astonishing decor created an authentic and peaceful atmosphere throughout the home. The specious house was filled with beautiful wooden works and antiques, a large kitchen, various lounge areas and a great pool/ outdoors area. Every morning, we scootered to nearby restaurants and had delicious, authentic Thai foods. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the sun by the fabulous pool and relaxed until the evening. In the late hours, we visited local world renowned restaurants and enjoyed cocktails by the riverside. On the weekend, we visited the local market and tasted various Thai desserts. The amount of outdoor activities to do nearby are endless. From visiting local temples to enjoying a day in the nearby water park to scootering around the city and sightseeing, we simply did not have enough time to do it all! We loved our stay so much we decided to extend it by 2 extra nights. The hosts were attentive and friendly, recommending local hot spots which truly made our trip unique. We cannot wait to come back!

We chose this villa as a healing retreat getaway to relax & enjoy, it was the perfect place! Cat, our chef, was great & definitely makes the best Chicken Mayonnaise sandwiches in the world which she prepared as a breakfast snack for our early morning adventure to the highest point in Thailand! We also enjoyed a lovely massage on the premises in the Sala & the pool was refreshing. Although only 3 of us, we definitely would like to return one day with the whole family as the villa has 6 bedrooms. All the meals were great & the cleaning staff were friendly & helpful.

Thank you Kim and his team who made our 4 days stay in Villa Chiang Mai a memorable one. It was a family trip with my parent. The villa was very well built with nice setting, we can enjoy sunrise at the swimming pool, or river view from the terrace. All rooms were cozy and spacious and there are full service from driver, housekeeper, chef to messages. We enjoyed a splendid dinner on the first night and our cook was simply awesome. Kim and the driver offered us good recommendation and always available for assistance that made our trip effortless. It is a perfect choice for family stay and I would highly recommend to everyone. Love to come back next time!

We stayed here during the Songkran festival and absolutely loved the place! The entire house is decorated with beautiful artworks and antiques that convey a very nice and classy atmosphere. The garden and pool area is stunning and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. There is a gym in the garden next to the pool, which was perfect for a little afternoon workout, and a sala for massages and chilled times at the riverside.

It was a real treat to stay at Villa Chiang Mai. The Teak house is beautiful with a lovely garden, pool area and sala - perfect for massages. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was totally delicious. The location is good too as just a 20min drive from the airport / 30min drive into Chiang Mai. We opted for the van and driver and this was an excellent choice - making it very easy for our party of 6 to get around enjoying sights, markets and restaurants.

A group of 10 of us (5 couples) recently spent four nights in the Villa and it was simply a wonderfully relaxing experience. The house and grounds are amazing - from the exquisite antiques to the beautiful flowers, and onto the many little hidden areas setup for people to relax. The entire environment is so peaceful. Kim, Kat and the staff were an absolute delight. Kim's coordination of our trips, transport, the collection of beer and wine was all completed professionally and cheerfully. Kat's meals were wonderful. The girls coordinated with her what we would like for meals and all were delivered with perfect presentation and taste. The food was one of the highlights of our trip. Pat (the driver) was always on time, always had a smile on his face and we all had total confidence in his driving. The Villa is wonderful experience. It is not a brand new Villa but one full of antiques and a Villa to be appreciated. We all had a great relaxing experience and i would strongly recommend it to any group.

My group of 10 people spent 6 days at chiangmai villa during the chinese new year holiday. The villa is well equipped and decorated, as if the owner would stay here him/herself. Service people are intelligent and experienced enough so that we were well taken care of all the way from airport pick up, food, day trips, onsite massage, till airport drop off. Not quite at the dhava dhevi level in some details, but this is probably $100 per person per day vs. $300 comparison. More of a home feeling instead of commercial hotel/resort. Strongly recommend for group of close people who want to chill relax and enjoy private interaction.

It was incessant noise with this rental. The house is situated on a busy road. Inside it is dark and gloomy and dusty, so we wanted to spend time in the light by the pool. But there was no tranquility with the constant flow of cars, motorbikes blaring music or full throttle and trucks. To top it all off, we were also in the flight path so every so often the roar of jet engines would top off the rest of the cacophony. On Sat morning at 6:30 we were awoken to a nearby speaker blasting some Thai music followed by a public service announcement or some speech. That lasted a few minutes and ensured that we couldn't go back to sleep. We took all our massages indoors into a room downstairs for some peace and quiet. The inside is noisy but of a different type: because the entire house is made of teak and is 25 yrs old and showing, walking on the floor guarantees loud creaking. Our kids and us made a game of trying to cross the room silently. Naturally no one won. I can only imagine the internal cacophony when the house is at full capacity. We were only 4 guests. There's absolutely no sneaking around here! The rooms were dusty and musty. Bathroom doors couldn't close properly. Even on a bright day, we had to switch on all the lights for some cheer. I completely regret not staying in the Four Seasons for the same price!!! What was I thinking??????!!!! Oh, I was foolish enough to believe the "luxury" description in the listing. And the other reviews which I now realise were made by people who have hardly reviewed anywhere else. The only saving grace about this place is the staff. Kim and Kat and their colleagues spared no effort in meeting our food and touring needs. They were the only compensation for a very pathetic, miserable place.

I am not too sure what this guest was expecting as the villa is loaded with priceless antiques and has a feeling unmatched in other villas , blaring load speakers is sadly a feature of the Thai countryside but only on special days and lasts a few minutes at most , yes the floor does creak in places , it is made with real old planks and we do say that if you want a modern concrete villa this is not the place but then who wants that in Chiang Mai ? The kitchen and rooms are all fully equipped with all the luxuries you could want and the cost for a six bedroom villa would be the same as one bedroom at Four Seasons ?
