Secluded. Private. Panoramic views from a wraparound deck above the coconut palms, looking out over the sea to other far-off islands and to fishing boats passing by... The house is very, very unique. Our house was built in the 1980's and it is perhaps the strongest house on the island, as it is the only home to survive past hurricanes. Our home is off-grid; The power to run the electricity comes from a combination of solar panels and a wind generator on the roof. This energy from the wind and the sun is then stored in a large bank of batteries. (The refrigerator and the stove are powered by butane.) We conserve energy and all of our water comes from a huge water catchment system, which captures the rain and filters it for pure drinking water. The showers are nice & warm, as we have an on-demand water heater for the shower. We are... Read more

Linda's place was the perfect private getaway. The apartment is located on the third floor with a clear view of the ocean and city lights in the far distance. The home was comfortable and had all the necessities (including a grill) we needed to enjoy our stay. There was a constant breeze throughout the house and screens to keep the...

Place is pretty much exactly as advertised. Never had any problems with the water or the electricity, but it was sunny and windy everyday. Didn't really matter there was no airconditioning, there always seems to be a great breeze coming thru the windows. Having the bikes and the kayak are really a bonus. Had fun grilling lobster and conch also....

Management response:

Thanks for the kind words. The construction is all finished, so back to peace and quiet. There is also a new pier right next door that is open to all guests to use. It is in much better shape than the one right in front of our house, and great for fishing off of or sunbathing on. And I agree...

Linda's place was perfect for us. Being up on the third level is a huge advantage providing uninterrupted 360 views and a pleasant, consistent nighttime breeze. The house was clean and the bikes came in real handy. It was a simple, safe and fun 10 minute bike ride into town (15 minutes to center). So worth being on the quiet...

Management response:

The bikes are what we always use when we are there. No need to use a golf cart to town, as they are at least as slow as a bike and the exercise means you can eat more great food :) Some people walk to town, but I like biking. Plus the baskets on the bikes give you a place...

About the neighborhood
We are located on the southern tip of the island of Caye Caulker, and nestled in Indigo Bay, which is seen on any map as the indent - area at the southwest area of the island's tip. The house is secluded and your views are panoramic over the tops of the coconut palms and mangrove trees. You would be staying on the very top level apartment. We are a 15 minute bike ride to the edge of town - perfect distance for seclusion when you want it and immersion in tourist activities when you want it. Our property is the 3 story house and 2 additional lots. So it is large and secluded. You need to be able to ride a bike (or rent a golf cart taxi for the week) Yes, you can stay at a place for less cost on the mainland of Belize -- but being a remote island, Caye Caulker is a bit more. It is vastly... more
Getting around
Caye Caulker is best explored by either walking, or by the use of the fat-tire bikes that we supply the use of to our guests. Golf carts are available for rental for about $250 USD/week, but we never use one when we are there, and most people walk or use a bike.
Car not needed
How to get there
You will arrive to Caye Caulker via water taxi from Belize City, and then a golf cart taxi driver will take you and your luggage to our house. Many more details are provided after you book your stay!
