Living the paradise life
Staying with Jim and Tricia was an absolute gift. It’s a tranquil place close to the beach with everything you need to live in a tropical paradise. Waking up with the sounds of howler monkeys and waves on the shore. The beds were comfy and the fresh water from the well was great. A recommendation to everyone!

Basic cottage, beach 200 yards, mostly quiet.
Make sure you read Jim/..his partner’s web site and add a pinch if salt (not just a grain).
That’s where you get driving directions-the map on Air B&B only gets you to the general vicinity. It is not on the water, it’s about 200 yards to the beach, but there’s a nice gravel trail to get you there. Be aware that the howler monkeys are VERY loud and they like to scream in the middle of the night. Take ear plugs!
Even though it looks pretty enclosed by screening, the connection between the eves and walls wasn’t completed, so that’s entirely open.
Place needs a good old fashioned scrub and fixture and toilet seat replacements. The deck is nice. The wifi is VERY sketchy, i. e., don’t count on it. Full kitchen isn’t really accurate-only 2 chipped mugs, pans need replacing and only a small collection of utensils. The oven is really old and rusted but the propane stove works fine (needs a lighter). I’ve paid lots less for much more well appointed cottages-so this one isn’t a good value. We could cook but it took a lot of effort.

Perfect stay
Shanti Wasi is a great place for a vacation. We loved how close it was to the water but also amidst the jungle. Casa Titi served us well with all necessities. The mosquito net was helpful to keep little bugs of during the night. Trish and Jim were very kinds and friendly. They answered many questions and opened their home for us. We loved the shows the monkeys put on for us right there.

Truly amazing - a hidden gem!
We stayed here over Christmas with our 3 children. The location is great with just a few steps to the beach. Tons of wildlife, great surf opportunities and best of all: Rachel and Rooster were absolutely outstanding hosts. They taught us all so most and we loved spending time with them. Can't wait to go back!!!

Carefree!
Shanti Wasi is a sweet little house located in a laid-back neighborhood, steps from beautiful beachs and a fun cafe'. The wild life abounds and Jim and Trish are cool longtime locals. We loved it there!

Amazing Great Cabina With Gorgeous Beach
This is our second time staying in this cabina and it is second to none! One of the best values in the area, and the hosts Jim and Trish are very accomodating. They have deep knowledge of the area, and have been such great guests. The cabina is perfectly located next to a short path to a private beach. The kitchen is fully equipped so bring food to cook. The grounds are immaculate and monkeys are seen daily.
Be sure if you are staying on a Friday, to go to the restaurant next door called Martinas for their marketplace which is only on Fridays.
Thanks Jim and Trish, we'll see you soon!

Cute cabin in a great location
Cute, spacious cabin minutes walk from a rocky beach and 15 min walk at low tide to gorgeous sandy beach. Minutes walk to fresh water pools on from a river right on the beach - gorgeous and so refreshing! Walk up the road 300m to the river and walk up the river a way to waterfall pool. Also great! Jim and Trish were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Beautiful garden around the cabin, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommended! Only cons are bugs and ants that it's hard to keep out of the cabin.

Rustic Paradise
Cabinas Ola Mar was exactly what we wanted, a rustic piece of paradise far from the worries of modern life. The cabina was perfect for our family of three, including our 8 year-old daughter who loved the secluded beach right out front and the monkeys jumping tree to tree. The owners were very nice and helpful!

About the neighborhood
The Osa Peninsula is home to 2.5% of the Earth's biodiversity. It is one of the most biologically intense places on the planet according to National Geographic, a nature lovers dream! Perfect for couples, small families, surfers, fishermen, birders, hikers...and anyone looking for a secluded retreat in one of the world's most beautiful natural settings. ...Costa Rica's secret!
We are an off-the-grid property in the heart of the Osa Peninsula, surrounded by pristine, solitary beaches and lush jungle. Wake up to the sounds of monkeys, macaws, and tumbling surf just outside your door. Just steps to a secluded beach with excellent surf. Walk to a nearby waterfall and world-class surf spots, and an internationally acclaimed restaurant and bar.
Getting around
Some of our guests choose to have a car during their visit in order to go when and where they choose - and we have convenient secure on-site parking for all of our guests but a vehicle is definitely not a necessity...many of the area's beaches, rivers, waterfalls and other attractions are within walking distance and there is a twice-daily “collectivo” taxi that travels between Puerto Jimenez and Corcovado National Park providing very affordable transport to many of the areas most popular sites. private taxis and informal hitchhiking are also readily available.

So far the Osa peninsula has escaped the impact of mass tourism, due in part to it's wild and rugged geography. Most of the peninsula is still off the grid and getting here can be an adventure in itself. However, it is getting easier to reach the Osa. Local airlines, Nature Air and Sansa have daily flights from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and the old access road from Chacarita is being vastly improved, with new bridges and less potholes. Driving time from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez is now down to about six hours, even if you are coming by bus. If you do arrive by public transport you can hire a 4wd right next to the airport or take the collectivo, a covered truck with basic seating in the back. It runs out to Carate twice a day, at 6 am. and 1.30 pm. The driver can drop you off right by our entrance. It's a slow and bumpy ride, but at $8 is a lot cheaper than the $30 taxi fare to get out here. There are very few amenities on this side of the peninsula so you will need to stock up with supplies and fill up your tank in Puerto Jimenez, before you head out on the dirt road to Cabo Matapalo . Shanti Wasi is 15km. south of town, about 30 minutes drive. The road is a graded dirt road and there are a number of narrow bridges to cross and one river to ford, fairly easy in the dry season, December to April, and sometimes during the wet season require a 4x4. Once past the river, you will pass three properties on your left hand side (Ojo del Mar, Finca Camisas y Sombreros and Playa del Paz) and the Corcovado school on your right hand side. After passing these landmarks, take the left just before Martina's Bar. Follow the lane down and pass Casa Mil Flores on your left and when you come to Casa Dos Rios make another left. The entrance to Shanti Wasi will be directly in front of you behind a large wood gate and fence. Congratulations, you made it.
