L’Olivier is a light-filled village house which has recently been modernised to provide welcoming spaces inside and out and has a 4* official classifcation. There remain exposed beams and quirky details. Unusually for a village house we have two lovely outside spaces; a large south facing terrace with dining table and great views and a sunny but more protected courtyard, in which lives our 'Olivier', a BBQ and another dining area. The accommodation comprises two bedrooms, one with a 160 x 200cm king and the other with two 90x190cm singles, which can be configured several ways, including the creation of another king. Both are south facing to the rear and have views to the distant hills. There is a modern shower room/WC adjacent to the bedrooms. This light filled room opens onto the terrace, where there is a further dining table. On the ground floor is a large garage/cave which is normally available to guests as long as pre-booked. There is also a laundry area with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside is our courtyard with easy chairs, lounger, dining table and chairs as well as a gas BBQ. More

Collapsed on arrival and spent a fortnight at death's door. David and Brenda were splendid. They must have expected happy holiday-makers rather than the sick and miserable, but they were kind, solicitous and helpful throughout the agony. They found an excellent doctor and their internet...More

About the neighborhood
Neffiés is in the heart of the Languedoc wine producing region. There are at least 6 vignerons in the village and literally hundreds of others within a 20km radius. With lots of new artisan wine-makers, the choice of wines is truly excellent. The coast is 30 km or about 30mins away, where there are pretty little harbours like Meze, Bouzigues and Marseillan. Bouzigues is the capital of the South's Oyster production and has many excellent sea-food restaurants. The city of Montpellier is an hour away. Inland, the Languedoc National park starts north of the village and offers beautiful walking, white water kayaking etc. We have a local lake for swimming at the Barrage des Olivettes and a much bigger lake, Salagou, about 15 km away.
Getting around
This is a rural village and a car pretty much is essential if you want to explore. We have a boulangerie, epicerie, organic shop, Poste and two restaurants, but for serious shopping there is a large Super U supermarket 3km away in Roujan. Fun shopping is in the beautiful town of Pézenas 12km to the South, which also has a great Saturday market (ditto Clermont l'Hérault on wednesday). Further afield trips to Montpellier, Aigues Mortes, Perpignan, Carcassone and the Pyrenees are easy day trips if you have a car.
