About the neighborhood
Silba is not allowed for traffic to motor vehicles. The only allowed vehicle is a postman and water dispenser moped, while tractors are allowed to drive just one hour before and after the ferry arrives. Residents are using a 2-wheel-drive trolley for goods. Bicycles in the season (from 15. 6. to 15. 9.) are not allowed inside the village, but they can be driven on the surrounding roads. That is why Silba is an ideal place for walking and vacation for families with children. It is, therefore, common to see children as they walk alone in the center of the village or on the beaches. Adults do not have to worry that they will lose because the island is connected by roads. Children are not difficult to get together so you are care free.
Along the shore of Silba there are countless smaller and larger beaches ideal for bathing and sunbathing the whole family. Silba is the island's bay. Kids on Silba learn swim and dive very quickly because the sea floor is a lot of plants and animals are particularly interesting to them. Sea depths around Silba are full of different types of white and blue fish traditionally prepared in the taverns. The most frequently mentioned sight of Silba is Toreta. It's a hexagonal tower with an outer spiral staircase. It is located in the village center, near the local post office and is 15 meters high. In the 19th century Toreta was erected by Captain Petar Marinić as a memory of unending love
