We are building The Shabby Shack. This is an exercise in sustainable and eco-friendly living. Abby's Shabby Shack will be a "Tiny-House" in Monro Street and available for vacation rental from 1 September, 2015.<BR><BR>**Update** without even advertising we are now "booked" for most of September! We have uploaded photos with the exterior cladding almost complete; the interior has yet to be lined and "fitted out".<BR><BR>Incorporating all the best features from the Tiny House Movement and George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, Abby's Shabby Shack is hand-built from mainly recycled materials. The shabby shack is in a great central spot - only 5-8 minutes walk from Blenheim CBD. Has everything you need for a short stay in a great spot in the back garden. A great idea with lots of though put into it. We found...More

The owners really went the extra mile to help us enjoy our stay. You have to get the afternoon tea. It was incredible! literally took a whole cake (not a cupcake), home with me as we couldn't eat all the glorious treats.

Peter and Heather have worked hard on the Shabby Shack. Built from scratch, on site from reclaimed materials it is completely 'off-grid'. Charming, whimsical, magical are all words I would use to describe it. We were welcomed with sunshine and silence. Blenheim isn't the biggest...More

Abby's Shabby Shack (along with The White Wabbit On Monro) is located at the rear of our 100-year-old villa, just 200 metres from the Blenheim town centre. Within easy walking distance there are many cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as the Millennium Art Gallery and the Taylor River Reserve. Slightly further away is the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, with its world renown collection of WW1 aircraft and vintage/classic cars. Blenheim and the surrounding area of the Wairau Plains are ideally suited to exploring by bike, with well established road and cycle ways around the town and vineyards.
