Thank you for visiting our holiday cottages listing. The holiday homes are contained within a tastefully renovated typical Charentaise farmhouse complex.
Gîte 3 is a 1 bedroom gîte that can comfortable accommodate 2 guests. The gîte is compact studio layout. There is a bedroom with ensuite bathroom/shower upstairs and an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge downstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils and appliances you could wish for including gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. Fresh towels and bedding are supplied at the beginning of your stay and are replaced each week each week of your stay. All you need to bring is yourself and your personal items. Convenient location, comfortable and spacious gite
Lovely quiet location, yet convenient for facilities in Ruffec and exploring the area, being close to the D19. The gite was spacious and comfortable with everything that we needed. There is no air conditioning, but the stone buildings keep naturally cool, even during hot summer weather, so it's not required. The hosts were very well organised and we only had to ask if we needed anything. They had kindly upgraded us to gite 4, since we stayed over a week and were friendly and hospitable. The gite had a private garden space which was visited by hedgehogs in the evenings. Would recommend as a base for exploring the Charente.

The perfect small Gîte
We loved this Gîte, it was so well equipped it was unbelievable, very comfortable and full of character. We were the first occupants so everything was brand new and spotlessly clean. Beverley and Tony the owners were extremely welcoming and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

About the neighborhood
The holiday cottages are in a tiny hamlet close to village of Villiers le Roux in the commune of Villefagnan in south West France. It is close to the town of Ruffec with its supermarkets, with fresh seafood stall, biweekly market, shops, cafés and public amenities. Close by are the picturesque and historic villages of Verteuil-sur-Charente and Nanteuil-en-Vallée with their excellent restaurants and cafes. The location is rural countryside retreat perfect for cycling and walking.
Getting around
The best way to explore the area is to use have use of a car. If you havent brought your own car, vehicles can be hired at the airports in Potiers-Baird and Limoges and at the railway stations in Poitiers and Angouleme. All the tourist sights and places to visits described are between 40minutes and 2 hours of easy driving. If you do not have access to a car, the railway station at Ruffec has good local connections to Poitiers and Angouleme for a day trip.

Airports. Limoges airport is 106km away with a Ryan Air flight from Liverpool:
Poitiers-Baird is 68km away with a Ryan Air flight from Stansted. Ferries: If you are travelling from the North of England then the Hull - Zeebrugge route is very convenient. An overnight trip on the ferry in a cabin leaves you fresh for the drive in France down to Le Bois de l Eglise. The distance from Zeebrugge is 709km , about 7 hours drive on autoroute and national roads.
