Completely encircled by a wild natural paradise of 20 hectares of private land, set in the mountain foothills of Picos de Europa near Cangas de Onís. A place of peace, adventure, incredible views, gardens, forests, owls and stars at night, in harmony with Nature. Reconnect with natural rhythms with all the comforts of a modern home in a region packed with things to do! The house is small but well equipped with a functional kitchen (cooker and top, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, wood-fired Nordica range, all utensils etc.) and bathroom (shower and hot bath) downstairs and a large double bedroom/relax space upstairs with annex gallery room and balcony. Upon request a second single bed can be put in the small gallery room which is connected to the bedroom with no division (useful for young children). Also there is a travel cot & high chair if needed. The house is built from traditional chestnut and oak timber frame with lime plasters. Heating is provided by the wood-fired range or radiator. The cottage has its own private garden/lawn which can be used for lounging or eating outdoors. The farm itself is riddled with little kitchen gardens, veggie plots and orchards all based on permacultural practices. Most times of the year it's possible to harvest and forage food from the land; peaches; plums; figs; apples; pears; berries; hazelnuts; walnuts; chestnuts; annuals from the veggie garden and herbs for teas. Please ask me and I'll let you know what's in season and available. Chickens are also kept on site, most entertaining for children to watch. There are some quite high terraced stone walls without ballastrade which could be dangerous for small children and parents should be aware of this. Firewood is available for free and easily foraged from the woods. The property is immediately surrounded by a vast chestnut forest offering scope for wild mushroom foraging. Like many secret beauty spots in this world, the final part of the road in the village is very hidden and requires additional directions to be able to find. We have surfboards and wetsuits for hire also. Contact us for more information. Please note this is a completely NON SMOKING FARM. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage, in the gardens/fields or anywhere on the farm. Thank you for your understanding. If you download the Tripavisor App, it is a lot easier & quicker to book a reservation. Hidden gem in the mountains
A great stay in the middle of nature. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything for a comfortable vacation in the mountains. Very clean, tidy and decorated with lots of love. We stayed with our 3 y.o. daughter and it was perfect. The view from the balcony is stunning. We had a great sleep, comfy bed and crisp clean sheets. Little touch like flowers, hand cream, candles in the bathroom make your stay extra special. Claudia and Chris are brilliant hosts, very accommodating, welcoming, responsive, kind and caring people. Thank you a lot for this beautiful experience 🌿🏡💚

Absolute Heaven!
What an incredible little gem of a place! I absolutely LOVED my stay with Claudia and her beautiful family in the mountains of Asturias. The little cottage I stayed in looks like a little gingerbread cottage, with beautiful chestnut beams and lovely views of the mountains. it was something out of a fairy tale. I fell asleep to the gentle tinkling of cow bells in the distance and woke to bird song. Utter heaven - such a restful and peaceful place to recoup! Thoroughly, thoroughly recommend!

Inolvidable

Incredible Mountain Retreat!
We had such a wonderful stay at the Duruxa cottage! This place is amazing in every way. Just getting there is a fun adventure, but Claudia was proactive and helpful beforehand with detailed instructions. It is remote and serene yet comfortable, with all of the conveniences you need. The cottage and the rest of the farm are cute with very nice touches, and the views of the nearby mountains and of the stars at night are incredible. Claudia and her family were amazing hosts, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed other things we didn't realize we needed (fruit from the farm, fresh eggs, and deliveries of baked goods!). We can't recommend her place enough!

Paradise Lost...
Claudia and Chris are amazing hosts who have created a wonderful retreat in a natural setting. We loved everything, especially the isolation, the tranquillity, the family, the cats, the gardens, the local walks, the fresh vegetables and eggs. It really is a paradise that is perfect for a couple.

Authentic and beautiful stay in the heart of Asturias!
We stayed for 2 nights with a one and three year old. Claudia did a lot of effort to make us feel at home and comfortable. The views and the domain are absolutely gorgeous. They have built (are building) a real paradise in the heart of Asturias! We highly recommened this adventurous stay!

Beauty and Authenticity
Claudia and her family welcomed us and opened the doors of their home and their heart. Discrete and available when needed. Everything in Duruxa is full of authentic life and beauty: the trees, the animals, the mountains, the air… The place is super clean and equipped. Claudia and her family -super-hosts!- showered us with care: fresh flowers, candles, their own organic products from the farm and garden. They showed us their way of life and also shared with us a lot of beautiful places to visit, where to eat, which beaches to go to, some nearby routes... Duruxa is the place to Cloe back to your (best) senses. We definitely recommend and will return to this haven of silence and peace.

A true gem
It's difficult to describe this place to its fullest most beautiful self, but I will try. It is situated just outside of the picos with views of incredible snow capped mountains on the drive in. It is remote without being difficult to get to. It is both both full of life and completely peaceful. ~The space itself is comfortable and charming. The bed is lovely, the cottage stayed perfectly warm, and all the windows in the second story make for perfect morning sun and natural light all day long. The kitchen is exceptionally stocked and even had essentials that I might forget- like oil, salt, spices, tea. Having a kitchen this beautiful and well stocked was a definite bonus! ~There is both a table and chairs in the garden as well as an upstairs balcony to spend reading, drinking wine and eating. We spent much of our time there. ~Another highlight was having accessible trails right from the property. Our hosts helped explain various routes along the property and beyond to nearby trails. ~But what makes this place truly special is the hosts! They are generous and kind and just really genuine people. I feel like we made friends after just a short weekend visit. The 'extras' that others talked about below: a bottle of cider, access to garden vegetables and cut flowers in various parts of the house made it feel so special. My only hesitation is talking it up so much is that it won't be available the next time we want to return :) This truly is a gem- both with the actual accommodations and the hosts.

About the neighborhood
There are some amazing routes both in the Picos de Europa National Park (the Lakes 30 mins, Cabrales 30 mins) and the Cordillera Cantabrica mountain range. There are so many beautiful beaches to discover (about a 30/40min drive), market towns (15 mins), and fishing villages (40 mins) to visit, cycle routes, 4x4 guided tours, Camino de Santiago etc. Try the local cider and gastronomy in nearby Cangas de Onis (15 mins), or river kayaking in Arriondas . Or you can just cool off in a river swimming hole. Cangas de Onís the nearest town had a fabulous market every Sunday which is definitely worth a visit. The local village is also great for walking with many local paths going through nearby forests and up small peaks, just minutes from the co

How to get there
Exact directions: If you arrive into Asturias along the coastal motorway A-8 from France/Santander: Exit motorway at Ribadesella. At roundabout take exit PICOS DE EUROPA / COVADONGA/Cangas de Onis/Arriondas. Turn off at ARRIONDAS and then continue to CANGAS DE ONIS. Pass by Cangas de Onis and continue on the same road to CORAO. If you arrive via Oviedo and the West, come via Arriondas, Cangas de Onis, Corao also. At CORAO turn off and take the road to LABRA. 1km after LABRA (don't enter this village, just drive passed it!) there is a turn off to CEBIA. GPS Navigators should be directed to LABRA, not Cebia, as they may take you other ways which are not the best if you put Cebia or Duruxa. Make sure you come via CORAO and LABRA! Do not arrive via Peruyes; Google Maps tries to direct cars this way but it is not a proper road.
