Wonderful holiday!
We had a fantastic week here with our two boys (aged 5 and 7)! The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped and in a divine setting. We walked around the harbour every evening and enjoyed the seal popping up to say hello. We hired a boat from Croabh Haven Watersports, visited Kilmartin, Oban, Carnasserie Castle and enjoyed fantastic food at Lucy’s in Ardfern and The Lord of the Isles. I last visited 20 years before and it’s just as magical as it was then. This place is, without doubt, my favourite holiday spot in the UK.

Phenomenal scenery
We have stayed in both cottages over the years. Always happy on arrival. A very welcoming cosy comfortable sparkling clean cottage. Facilities within the cottage perfect as a base to explore from. The views from the cottage and the clean soft west coast air so good. Again, sad to leave.

Absolutely too good to miss
Fantastic time had by us all, the cottage is very clean and homely. Great views from the cottage and lovely walks from the door. Lovely trip to the Crinan canal - well worth a visit. Would certainly recommend if looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday. The nearby pubs/hotels provided excellent meals.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell everyone.
If I was being selfish I wouldn't write this review as I am not sure that I want everyone to know about this gem of a property. Cosy, comfortable, well equipped and spacious with stunning views across the bay, especially at sunset. Jura cottage is located mid way between Oban and Lochgilphead and close to historic Kilmartin Glen and the slate islands. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday in situ or as a base for exploring further afield. Being located at the end of the village means that there is no through traffic. Even during the day it is so quiet and peaceful with only the sound of wildlife and the ocean waves for a soundtrack. The weather during our stay was perfect for just sitting on the bench outside and enjoying the view. We arrived later than planned due to traffic delays on the trunk road but that was no problem, the owners were very understanding and they ensured that everything was ready for us when we got there.

An amazing place, in a beautiful landscape with perfectly comfortable accommodation.
It was the holiday setting I'd dreamed of finding and came with this lovely cottage , light and cosy with all we needed. All one could wish for in convenience and comfort in perfect running order. The cottages look out across the loch affording a constant view of birds and changing light across the loch. We could walk out the door to the waters edge and further. In the week we were there we sailed, walked, and swam.only scratching the surface of what was available. There is a watersport centre and loads of historical sights scattered in easy reach.

What a wonderful find!
This was our first holiday since lockdown and such a delight in every way. What a lovely gesture on entering Islay cottage to find a personalised welcome message in magnetic letters on the fridge! The cottage was extremely clean and well equipped with good quality kitchen appliances, crockery etc. The bed was the most comfy ever and the views from the sitting room and double bedroom are breathtaking. Each cottage has its own designated parking space along with wood etc for the open fire should you need it. The cottage is beautifully warm with lots of hot water and a large bath which was most welcome after a days walking. The area is peaceful with an abundance of bird life and, at the time we visited, wildflowers too. The walk to the end of the peninsula is a must to watch the sunset. Highly recommend everything about these lovely cottages.

Best week
Arrived at the cottage on the 17th October for a week and what a delight it was. Fabulous cottage, very clean and home from home. So cosy and the view's were stunning, sitting in the cottage just looking out to see Scotland at it's best. The cottage has so much to offer and is extremely clean and comfortable, missing it so much already. Everything you could want and need in the most beautiful cottage and place.

Beautiful cottage with the best view
We had a great stay here. The cottage was warm, clean, and really well furnished with everything we needed. Just sitting with a cup of tea looking out of the window is wonderful (one morning we opened the curtains to find a red squirrel sitting on the bench outside). The owners were super-helpful throughout the covid-related uncertainties too, for which we were very grateful. We would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

Cosy retreat with stunning views of the surrounding loch and marina!
Beautifully well presented 3 bedroom cottage with a log fire and stunning views. The cottage has everything you need for your stay and dog friendly too. My only wish was to stay longer!! The cottage is situated right on the lochs edge and a short walk from the marina. Demi was so kind and gave such a warm welcome and made you feel instantly at home. Nothing was any trouble and gave tips of local places to visit, such as the Corryvreckon whirlpools - well worth a visit! The marina is perfect for evening strolls and has a lovely restaurant. The marina has a well equipped chandlery, my sup board needed a patch and was able to buy a replacement. Alistair was great in assisting and has a wealth of knowledge, can't praise the staff enough. Just a wonderful stay and everyone we met was just so warm and welcoming. Would definitely stay again, thank you for such a lovely weekend.

About the neighborhood
SUNSETS Craobh Haven and Ardfern are villages on either side of the Craignish peninsular an area of spectacular beauty with incredible sunsets seen from the Craobh Haven side. WHIRLPOOLS AND WILDLIFE The infamous Corrievreckan whirlpool between Scarba and Jura is the 3rd largest in the world and well worth a boat trip from Craobh Marina. Great for spotting an ubundance of wildlife including grey seals, golden eagles and red deer. RIDING The excellent Appaloosa riding centre is 5 minutes from the house WATERSPORTS Craobh Haven Watersports offers boat hire, canoeing, and sailing tuition. WALKING There are many wonderful local walks from the house where you can soak up the scenery, watch the wildlife or indulge your artistic tendencies with painting or photography as the light is extraordinary in this beautiful area. GARDENS Arduaine, and Crarae National Trust gardens to name a couple but there are many more. ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES Mid Argyll is a truly fascinating area to stay as there are more prehistoric sites for it's size than anywhere else in Scotland. You can visit Dunadd fort where the first kings of Scotland were crowned in the Kilmartin Glen and where many archaeological sites are centred around the Kilmartin Museum of Ancient culture. CASTLES Travel on a little further to Inverary, with it's castle (home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll) and also the historic jail. OBAN The gateway to the Isles of Mull (Duart Castle, Tobermory), Iona (St Columba landed here in 563 AD), Staffa (Fingal's cave) Coll, Tiree, Colonsay and the Outer Hebrides. Ferries and boat trips depart from this port. FISHING Sea fishing can be arranged from Oban and there is very good freshwater fishing on Loch Awe. GOLF Seil Island has a 9 hole course and Oban a more challenging 18 hole course with it's hilly situation.

How to get there
Craobh Haven is south of the well-known town of Oban, about half way between Oban and Lochgilphead. It is just over two hours drive from Glasgow via the A82 and A83, about 17 miles north of Lochgilphead on the A816. For SatNav users, the postcode is PA31 8UA. We send detailed directions to the cottage on confirmation of booking. The nearest railway station is in Oban, about 20 miles north, but unfortunately trains from Glasgow are fairly infrequent. The bus from Glasgow stops in Lochgilphead before turning south to Campbeltown. A separate service leaves Lochgilphead in the morning calling in to Craobh Haven on its way to Oban and returning in the afternoon.
