Añoranza is a brand new, eco-luxury, high end, private vacation home. Every room, and even shower, at Añoranza has a view of the reef and the amazing shades of blue water that surrounds it. The Villa was designed with 3 levels to give our guest privacy as well as maximize the views. TOP FLOOR: There are 2 suites on the top floor that over look the reef and the town of Punta Gorda in the distance to the West. The first suite offers guests a king bed, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, walk-in closet, washer and dryer, safe, en suite bathroom with ceiling fan, two shower heads, two vanities and a soaking tub inside the shower where you can relax and enjoy the view. It also has sliding glass doors that open up to a large balcony, with a ceiling fan. The second suite, on the top floor, offers guests a king bed, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, 2 large built-in closets, safe, en suite bathroom with ceiling fan, standing shower, and two vanities. It also has sliding glass doors that opens up to a private balcony. MIDDLE FLOOR: The middle floor is where you'll more than likely spend most of your time. When you open the main door to the villa, you will be greeted by the view of the reef and the infinity pool. As you step into Añoranza you will be in the outdoor living room. Then, on your right you step into the open concept, air-conditioned, living room and kitchen along with another full bath. High Speed Wi-Fi throughout. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a 50" flat screen SmartTV with access to Netflix as well as a DVD player with DVDs. There’s also a Bluetooth receiver that you can connect your phone to and play your music on the 2 speakers inside and 4 speakers outside. The kitchen offers all Bosch appliances including a fridge, dishwasher, and gas stove. There is a reverse osmosis system at the sink for cooking and drinking water. The whole house has a UV water filter so you can drink the water from any faucet in the house. Also, there is a dining table that seats 8. To the right of the kitchen is the bar area with a full size purified icemaker plus a wine and beer fridge. The entire back wall of the living room is sliding glass doors that open completely to take in the Caribbean views. The infinity pool is just steps away creating an indoor/outdoor experience. There’s a large propane gas grill in the outdoor kitchen to cook your fresh caught fish or lobster. Maybe you don't like to fish but you love to cook fresh seafood, one of the Punta Gorda fishermen will come by in their boat to sell you the days catch. LOWER LEVEL: The lower level of the villa has a private separate entrance suite that is accessed down stairs to the left of the entrance to the middle floor. This suite is the ultimate in privacy and has a large private balcony with two ceiling fans. It also offers guests a king bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, walk-in closet, safe, coffee maker and shower with view through the room and out to the reef. No need for a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door here in your private getaway. Also, on the lower level is the yoga deck that is accessed through the stairs on the right side of the villa, which also take you all the way to the water. We promise, you will enjoy doing yoga every morning with the reef in the background. If you’d like a private yoga instructor, Tatiana, our massage therapist can come. The stairway to the water navigates down a cliff and through the trees. There are 4 landings with benches on the way down where you can stop and take in the view or a sunset. Once you are at the water you will see how clear the water is and can take one of our complimentary kayaks to explore the reef or the mangroves. If you are looking for a different type of exploring, you can kayak around the point to the bar at Marble Hill or head west to Punta Gorda and grab food and drinks at Wagundan or another waterfront restaurant and bar.

Añoranza requires guest to be 25 or older to book. We do not allow parties or events without approval from the owner. There are a lot of stairs because Añoranza is built on a cliff so it may not be suitable for older guests, guests with health issues, or handicapped.

Active Construction Zone Completely Detracts from Experience

Do you like the sounds of hammers, saws, drills, axes, a boom box and men shouting? What if I told you that you would experience all this noise from as early as 8:00 am to as late as 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday? What if you could hear this noise from your living room, bedroom and private pool? What if this noise was often your daily alarm clock? This is was what my wife and I endured during our recent stay at Añoranza. What the out-of-date, overhead pictures on the website do not show is that a massive villa is being built just 10 feet to the west of Añoranza. Making matters worse, the owners are building two casitas just to the east to the main house. Add to that work being done by the owners just below street level, and you are surrounded on three sides by construction crews. None more than 100 feet away. So, while you think you are renting this beautiful white villa alone on a hillside, nothing could be further from the truth. While the construction noise isn’t booming, it is constant for 8-9 hours per day. The serenity and tranquility you are paying all this money for is nowhere to be found – except on Sundays. The owner claimed that no one has complained about this, which I find impossible to believe. Who purposely comes to the lightly populated, far eastern end of Roatan seeking solitude, and thinks being surrounded by all-day-long construction noise is just what the doctor ordered? The owner offered us a choice of a full, daily refund if we found another place to stay or a discount for the days when the construction noise was present. Having spent weeks looking for this seemingly perfect house, suggesting we put our vacation on hold and furiously search for another rental was totally unrealistic. And the discount offered (and provided) was not commensurate with the ruined experience. The giant villa next door has been under construction since the Spring of 2023. It is maybe 25% done. Which means Añoranza is going to be plagued with construction noise for some time to come. While Añoranza is absolutely beautiful, and could be amazing, the experience is completely destroyed by the giant construction project next door. And that is a shame.

Wow! What an amazing place!

We stayed at Anoranza for one week (I’m actually leaving airport now). The property surpassed expectations in every possible way. We were greeted by Robert who helped unload bags and made us welcome drinks. The house is spacious and has all the creature comforts of home with a generous common area to hang with friends, a plunge pool or go back to your suite and sit on your private balcony. Anoranza is about 40 minutes from the airport and about an hour from the west end. It’s on a cliff and has access to the water where there are kayaks and life jackets. The property is easy to get to but you need a rental car to get around. There are restaurants that are a short car ride away, there is also a private chef Dalia who will come cook meals. I wasn’t sure if I would do this before I came but Dalia is definitely a must do for a couple of days. She cooked us lunch and dinner for 2 days and we had plenty of left overs. Her cooking was the best meals we had while we were here and would highly recommend her. Robert the property manager really cares about your experience and is always available to mix drinks, arrange tours or be your designated driver for an evening out. He is definitely integral to the customer experience. He had the right level of attentiveness without being intrusive. Really impressed with his attention and care. He arranged a few tours for us as well as in suite massages and everything was top notch. Our favorite tour was snorkeling off Pigeon Cay. This is the perfect retreat for a relaxing quiet week or more in the sun. There are some stairs though so this wouldn’t be the place for you if you have mobility challenges. That said, I highly recommend and would stay here again.
