Nice Apartment, Super Location
A great apartment, and an enjoyable ski trip. The accommodation agents were very friendly and helpful throughout our week.
The good:
Spacious rooms, enough for 8 comfortable adults
Good quality decoration and furnishings
Well equipped kitchen (but see below)
Fantastic location, one minute walk from shops, bars and ski base
The bad:
A few kitchen essentials missing: no kettle, no knives capable of cutting, no peeler
Frosted glass wall of one bedroom means little darkness at night
Not enough comfortable seating
No instructions on controlling heating, or using hob (it took us a while to figure it out)

Well appointed apartment - excellent location
This apartment is spacious, modern, well appointed and is just yards from the main lift station. It offers four good sized bedrooms and a large lounge/kitchen.
The apartment is on the ground floor so the views are almost non-existent, and the design of the apartment is such that all of the bedrooms are around the outside so the main living area does not have any windows or balcony.
The few niggles are: (1) the apartment sleeps eight, but there is only glassware for around four - this would be any easy thing to rectify (2) the rental includes four dishwasher tablets - why not include one per day (3) the Sauna is not free of charge (4) there is only "comfy" seating for two persons - everyone else has to sit around the dining table.
Apart from that, this is a first class apartment and makes for a very comfortable stay,

Schladming is a bustling market town with pavement cafes and lots of restaurants of all kinds. At the base of the Planai the connected 4 mountain ski area is easily accessible from the apartment. Being part of the Ski Amade alliance the area boasts 860 km of piste on 1 lift pass and nearly 46 mountain restaurants in the Schladming area alone.
In summer the area is buzzing with walkers, cyclists, climbers. Now includes The Summercard, for many free activities. Still some availability for September and October. Lake swimming and horse riding are nearby and for the more adventurous canyoning, rafting and paragliding are popular sports. Just 15 km away the Dachstein Glacier (2700) metres) offers year round snow.
Activities in summer include walking, hiking, Nordic walking, mountain biking and cycling, rock climbing, swimming, horseback riding. Winter activities include alpine skiing, cross country skiing, winterwalking, snowshoeing, ski mountaineering, freeskiing, snowboarding, horse sleigh rides Cross country tracks are easily accessible within 5 min.
Summer activities for all age groups. Guided mountain tours. Easygoing walks. Nature trails for children. Mountain lodges and restaurants offering local food.
Winter activities for all age groups. Ski mountaineering: glacier crossing - a 20 km free skiing experience, also for intermediate skiers, with guide. Schladming is approximately 90km (50 minutes drive) from Salzburg airport which is served by several budget airlines (Ryan Air, Thompson, Flybe, British Airways). There is now a new winter route from Bristol to Salzburg with Easyjet.
Schladming is easily accessible by train from Salzburg which also has all the usual car hire companies. train times and prices from Salzburg to Schladming - oebb.at
