Climate - The region is characterised by a subarctic climate: long, usually cold winters, and brief, mild summers. Temperatures can drop to −40 °C (−40 °F) and in summer, may exceed +30 °C (86 °F). In the darkest time of the year, December-January, the sun barely rises above the horison; the days get longer in March and in June the sun barely sets. Summer daytime temperatures range from 15 °C to 30 °C, while night-time and early mornings are cooler. July is often the warmest month of the year. Late August and September departures could encounter cooler temperatures and slightly fewer hours of sunlight, as fall arrives early at these latitudes. Winters are long, cold and snow rich with low humidity. Snow starts falling in late November and disappears completely by the end of April, beginning of May. Svansele wilderness exhibition 10 km away When Svansele wilderness exhibition started they showed Sweden's five biggest predators, the lynx, wolf, bear, wolverine, and our two large eagle species; sea eagles and golden eagles. Today the exhibition, has more than 680 different animals. The 'Wilderness Menu Meal ' is cooked over an open fire and served on rustic wooden plates with wooden cutlery. Storklinta Ski Centre is 30km awaySkellefteå 53.8 km away - for natural and historical reasons, much of skellefteå revolves around the river. It is the only one of its kind and has a reproduction of the image of Christ which was discovered in the mine after a routine detonation in November 1946.Lycksele - The swimming pool at ' Ansia Badpark ' has lots to offer for all ages. The water is at least 25° and the pool opens every day during the summer. Since 2009, thanks to the Friends of Älvkungens Support Group, (Älvkungens vänner), the replica has been sailing the same stretch of river while the original boat is on display, undercover, at the local heritage museum.
