My husband and I were lucky enough to find Chateau Le Retail on our search for a French getaway. It was such a relaxing experience, in beautiful countryside. The hosts, Pauline and Doug, couldn't have done more for us. They were really happy to help and their local knowledge was invaluable during our stay. They were kind enough to book some wine tastings on the Vendee wine trail for us and made some fantastic recommendations for trips to La Rochelle and Vouvant, both of which were beautiful. All in all we felt thoroughly relaxed and had such a peaceful stay. Thank you!

A hidden gem. The surroundings and accommodation are beautiful. Really nicely restored gites with first class facilities. The owner Pauline is extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. Will look forward to returning.

Tastefully and beautifully decorated, everything is top quality, with great attention to detail and nothing forgotten. Highly recommended place to spend a vacation with spotlessly clean and fully equipped accommodation. Douglas and Pauline are first class hosts who really know the local area and are happy to help, if needed, with information on the local attractions. We had a fantastic time at Chateau Le Retail. The building is simply magnificent with classic French style and real flair, combined with comfortable, modern facilities. This is the best place I have stayed in France for sure. Both Pauline and Doug were wonderful hosts, charming and very supportive. They helped us make the most of our stay and offer great hospitality. Shame we were only there for a couple of days as in the end it became a home from home, would like to have stayed longer and will definitely re-book again as there is still more to see and do in the area and this is a great place to use as a base. Highly recommend Le Retail.

Chateau Le Retail was the ideal setting for our pre-Christmas get-together with friends. The gites were perfect - beautifully clean, spacious and totally catered for all our needs. Many thanks to Pauline and Douglas, our lovely hosts. With their help and advice we were lucky enough to visit some of the local Craft Fairs and Christmas Markets. We had a very enjoyable holiday. Can’t wait to do it all again.

The areas great and staying at this gorgeous house makes it really special. Great food and wine. Highly recommend a visit at anytime of year, there’s loads to do.

I booked late but Pauline and Doug were able to accommodate my request, despite being almost at full capacoty. Food and accommodation was excellent through out my stay and the evenings were excellent with great entertainment around the dimnertanle and well into the small hours for those who wished to stay up. Can't recommend it highly enough and looking forward to going again soon.
