This Tudor style house is located on one of the most beautiful places on Raymond Island, 6km's from the Paynesville township on 10 acres of bushland with tall trees in a parklike setting. Secluded off a beautiful long winding driveway, the house with it's two built in 2 storey cottages is but a few metres from the water's edge, has a safe sandy beach which stretches for miles on this side of the island. There is no road between the house and beach! This area in Gippsland is well known for its mild climate in winter, and cooling sea breezes in the hot summertime. It is surely one of the finest inland lake locations in Victoria, indeed Australia. It offers great variety such as swimming, bushwalking, sailing, boating, fishing, bowling and golf. It is surely one of the finest inland lake locations in Victoria, indeed Australia. It offers great variety such as swimming, bushwalking, sailing, boating, fishing, bowling and golf. The prawns run right out the front in summer and the owners have available kayaks to explore the lakes system. We offer truly peaceful, exclusive and tranquil surroundings in which to relax and be close to unspoiled nature. Resident on this property are koalas, echidnas, family of tawny frog mouth owls, sea eagles and kangaroos and their babies. The name of the property is a tribute to all the birdlife including black swans, pelicans, albatrosses, spoonbills, ibises, caspian terns, crimson and eastern rosellas, swift parrots, blue wrens, flame robins, azure kingfishers and many more. Gourmet breakfast baskets from our garden including home made jams, muesli, eggs, sourdough bread etc can be provided by prior arrangement. From $20. Vehicular ferry from Paynesville costs $12 return trip. Bicycles and pedestrians are free. THIS IS A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY. RAYMOND ISLAND IS A NATURE RESERVE AND AS SUCH WE DO NOT CATER FOR DOGS AND CATS. This cottage faces west, toward the park-like grounds, and includes master bedroom and second bedroom upstairs, with kitchen dining, lounge and very small bathroom downstairs and alfresco eating area off the lounge room.More

About the neighborhood
Raymond Island (Gunai/Kurnai language: Bunjil-baul) is a small island in the Gippsland Lakes, about 300 km (190 mi) from Melbourne. The island is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) long by 2 km (1.2 mi) wide, and is just 200 m (660 ft) off the coast, across from the town of Paynesville. The island is named after William Odell Raymond, originally a magistrate from New South Wales who established himself as a squatter in Gippsland in the 1840s. Raymond Island is well-known for its large koala population, originally introduced to the island in 1953, and for the Raymond Island Ferry, a chain ferry that links the island to Paynesville on the mainland.
