The Padd is a stylish Cotswold stone self contained detached annexe in the grounds of the owners' traditional Cotswold stone house situated on the edge of the attractive village of Ampney Crucis. With views across open countryside the cottage enjoys a tranquil setting. The property is newly refurbished and has not been used as a holiday let before. It provides comfortable accommodation and is well equipped to a high standard. The cottage provides one king (can be configured as two singles) and one double bedroom, each with an ensuite shower room and an open plan kitchen-living-dining area that opens out onto a private gravelled garden with views over adjacent fields. There is dedicated off road parking for two vehicles. Ampney Crucis has a pub which serves food and an historic church. Ampney Crucis is 3 miles from the Roman town of Cirencester, which offers a selection of restaurants, a farmers market, craft and antique markets and various boutique shops as well as a good selection of high street shops. Other well known villages nearby include Bibury with its Trout Farm and beautiful Arlington Row, Bourton on the Water, Lechlade and Burford. The Cotswold Lakes with various water sports activities are just a few miles away. There are great walks and cycle routes directly from the Padd. Slightly further afield attractions include Westonbirt Arboretum, Burford Wildlife Park, Cotswold Farm Park, Cheltenham Spa town, Stroud and Tetbury as well as numerous hidden gems which the owners can provide details of. The owners are happy to advise on walks, pubs, cycle routes and anything to make your stay memorable. We can also take delivery of online supermarket orders in advance of your arrival. Change over days are usually Friday, but it may be a possible to be flexible. More

The Padd is a spacious and beautifully decorated & equipped conversion well-located for visiting the Cotswolds! The furnishings, bedding is first class and the hosts are as ideally welcoming without being in any way intrusive. Unfortunately, as I understand it, they are moving so this beautiful oasis might no longer be available!

We spent a few days at The Padd in February and were really impressed with how comfortable and clean it was. Despite the exceptionally cold weather it was warm and homely unlike some other holiday homes we have stayed in. The location is excellent and it makes a good base to explore the area. Nick and Tracey were very helpful. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short but will definitely be back again in future.

A very comfortable, well-equipped cottage with plenty of room, two large ensuite bedrooms and parking just outside the door. Of the fifty-plus U.K. cottages we have stayed at over the years, this would rate in the top three. Well located in the southern Cotswolds for visiting lovely villages, National Trust properties, historic sites and the rolling countryside.

A cosy holiday let with everything you could need and set in a picture perfect village for a holiday exploring all the attractions the Cotswolds have to offer. Can't recommend it too highly.

The Padd is simply perfect! This was our second time staying here, the first in August 2014. What a beautiful cottage to return to at the end of a busy day after exploring all the area has to offer. We wish we could give it a higher rating than excellent! The owners are the most gracious hosts you'll ever meet and if you are planning a trip to the Cotswolds, book a few nights here and you'll fall in love with The Padd too!!

Beautiful Cotswold villages within easy reach. Many great attractions in all directions. Wonderful cycling countryside with traffic free small roads. Eating paradise, either in pubs, country hotels or pretty villages. Comfortable accomodation with good bathrooms. Superking bed in one bedroom. The owners are very friendly.

Great location with easy access to Cirencester and major routes to wonderful tourist destinations. The clean, well-equipped comfortable cottage with off-street parking is on the edge of the village of Ampney Crucis, in a quiet neighbourhood, and next to an open field for that countryside feel. At the end of a busy day of driving and sight-seeing, we looked forward to returning to the peace and quiet of The Padd to relax and get a good night's sleep. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and we knew that if we had problems, which we did not, they would be there to help. We would definitely stay there again.

About the neighborhood
Ampney Crucis is at the heart of the Cotswolds. Only three miles from Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds. Ampney Crucis is neighboured by Ampney St Mary and Ampney St Peter. Ampney Crucis gets its name from the river (Ampney Brook), a tributary of the Thames, and the church (Church of the Holy Cross). The village has a popular pub The Crown of Crucis. Just a short walk away is the Red Lion, situated in Ampney St Mary. Just a couple of miles away are the popular village pubs of The Falcon and Village Pub in Poulton and Barnsley respectively. For those keen to learn more about the history of Ampney Crucis please visit the village website.

How to get there
If approaching the village from Cirencester on the A417 take the 3rd turning on the left after the Crown of Crucis pub. This turning is opposite the Ampney St Mary church (there is a grass verge in the middle of the road). Proceed up the lane but do not take the left turn into the village. The Padd can be found at The Old Mortar Mill immediately left after the turning into the village. We are the last house in the village and found behind a row of conifer trees. If approaching from London take the M4. At junction 15 exit the motorway and take the 3rd exit, following signs for the A419. Continue along the A419 for about 15 miles. At the turn signposted Driffield and Cirencester Industrial Estate take the exit. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit. Then take the 1st turning on the right, signposted Driffield, Harnhill, Ampneys. Keep on this lane all the way to the end of the road, ignoring signs to Ampney Crucis. At the t-junction turn left, then take the 1st right. Continue up the lane but do not take the left turn into the village, continue on 50 yards and The Padd can be found on the left at The Old Mortar Mill behind the row of conifers.
