We highly recommend staying with Arlene Besson at Gite Bellevue as she makes u feel so welcome. The comfortable accommodation set in leafy grounds has a spotlessly clean pool and sensational view. We recommend it to Aussies who may like to stay in the countryside away from the bus loads of tourists in the bigger towns. However taller people may hit their heads on the low ceilings of the 2BR rooftop apartment. U can drive to any number of nearby Chateaux and wineries and dine in plenty of traditional brasseries and cafés in the quaint 16th century villages of the Loire Valley. The summer floral displays in most villages are quite spectacular. If u r a keen gardener don't miss Villandry and Chenonceau Chateaux. If u like antiques Azay Le Rideau has a good collection. Another fascinating tour is in the Caves de Champiognnieres, at Bourre where you can see how mushrooms are cultivated in tunnels deep underground at 12C. So take a warm jacket!
