Cottage
Centred around a 15th Century pele tower, the property has been developed over the centuries with later additions in the 18th and 19th Century. The Hall is built on the site of a Roman fort known as ” Castra Exploratorum ” and it is believed that some sections of the house have been built using some of the fort stones. The house stands in 36 acres of parklands with extensive lawns, a Victorian pleasure garden and a walled garden covering just over an acre.
Gardener’s cottage is set in the magnificent grounds of Netherby Hall. Like all the accommodation available at Netherby Hall it is furnished to an exceptional high standard.
This cottage has open plan living on the ground floor, a wood burner for the cooler days and nights and a 40” smart TV. In the living area there is a dining table ...

Short break
We booked the lovely Gardeners cottage which had views over the walled garden. The reception staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. That were able to answer our questions regarding places to eat, local walks etc. While walking the main house estate we meet a lot of the Grounds staff who again made us welcome.
If you want a quiet location with many things to do just a short drive away then this the place. We all enjoyed an excellent stay and short holiday.

The Cottage We Wanted to Keep
You drive up to the cottage, set in a leafy lane and see the old bricks, typically rustic and unassuming and immediately feel like you are in for a treat. Set against the walled garden it is just a gorgeous location.
Anyhow, the second you walk inside you know that this place is what you would want to present if you owned a holiday rental. Quality just oozes from every item of furniture and kitchen equipment.
The bathroom is great, the bedrooms are great, the kitchen is great, the lounge area is great.
We loved it.
It was immaculately clean. I have included a few photos, one of which is my standard now - I always check the cutlery drawer for dross or dirty cutlery. Not this time, it was spotless.
The estate is lovely to walk around and the walled garden is a rare treat. A real gardening art work, and I'm not talking about decorative gardening. The real stuff.

Excellent would highly recommend
We stayed for 4 nights with our dog. There were lovely touches like milk and Prosecco in the fridge and bath robes. The house was very clean and it was wonderful to walk around the gardens. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. There is also a restaurant nearby and the hall offers a complimentary mini bus service. Even the dog was allowed to come and made welcome.
