Condo/Apartment
La Piccionaia is a spacious apartment, with its own entrance, as part of Ca' Valenzano which also comprises our smaller apartment Il Granaio and our own family home. The apartment itself is open plan with the front door leading straight into the kitchen/dining area and the bathroom immediately on your left. Further in is the cosy sitting room with woodburning stove and sofa (which converts to a large double bed if needed). Up the open wooden stairs is the loft style double bedroom with views across the terrace to the hills beyond. There is also a double sofabed. Ca' Valenzano is an old property which we've restored ourselves, keeping as much of the character as possible while making it a lovely space to spend your holiday in. Ca' Valenzano is an old property which we've restored ourselves, keeping as much of the character as possible while making it a lovely space to spend your holiday in. The outside spaces are shared but in reality the main terrace with vined pergola is for use of La Piccionaia while Il Granaio has a terrace running alongside it. The main terrace leads down to a shared small cooling off (3m diameter and 50cm deep) pool that's great for an evening cocktail or for the kids to splash around in. There are other spaces too which guests are free to explore - hammocks under the pines, children's play equipment in the yard and our vegetable garden. Our neighbours next door are lovely and will happily chat to you in Italian! There's a washing machine available for use, plus ironing board and iron, hairdryer, highchair, travel cot, and children's toys and books. More

Interaction with guests
It's very rare that we're not here to welcome guests, and love to bring you a glass of wine or cup of tea on arrival. We live on the property too and love to chat to our guests and recommend places to visit, but equally we'll respect your privacy if you want to just chill!

About the neighborhood
The area around is is hill/mountainous so the roads are very windy (Italian roads are generally also very poorly maintained!) and we're very much in rural Italy. We have lovely neighbours right next door but other than that you can see a few houses and farms on the surrounding hills and of course there's Sestino, a small village but packed with all the shops you need and two pizzerias, just 3km down the road.
Getting around
The walking in this area is fantastic, as we have good walking maps for you to borrow, but in order to adventure further afield you really do need a car as public transport is limited.
