After a long drive, we arrived at the beautiful residence of La Feuillade. First thing that cought the eye: so much space! (Okay, let's be fair: our children mostly noticed the trampoline, play house and the super friendly dog ;)). Right after that: a beautiful...More

This delightful holiday rental feels like a classic French country cottage. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, both bedrooms are generous, the lounge is comfortable and the bathroom facilities are excellent, particularly the family-sized "Turkish-style" bath. Outside, the setting is beautiful, with a lovely pool, acres...More

About the neighborhood
You can walk down to Mussidan Bridge and hire a canoe or kayak (in season) and paddle down river and count the kingfishers. Alternatively you can stop at the restaurant just before and spend the next 2 hours eating local cuisine in a truly French environment and at a ridiculously low price. On Saturday you could make it across the bridge to market and get all you need for supper, pique-niques, or if you are feeling more adventurous get yourself a live chicken, pintade or rabbit!

There is loads of other stuff to do, from checking out the man-made beach at La Jemaye set in a fabulous oak forest (really safe for tiny ones) with a fab wooden play area. Stroking carp at Le Bugue and descending into caves in a bucket for five. Every day is market day somewhere to get all you need to have a sple...

How to get there
Airport: Bergerac: 15.5 mi
Railway: Mussidan: 1.2 mi
Ferry: St Malo: 364.7 mi
With regards to getting here, flying to Bergerac is definitely the easiest airport, being only 25 minutes from here ( they have recently improved the road). In summer you can fly here from about 10 UK cities, including Ryan Air from Stansted, Luton, East Midlands and Liverpool, and Flybe from either Gatwick or Southampton, Exeter and Bristol.

Bordeaux airport is just over an hour and 30 minutes drive away, (British Airways fly from both Gatwick and Heathrow) and carhire is situated directly at the airport.
Car hire is possible at both the airports, Eurocar and Hertz amongst others.
With regards to driving from the UK, there are varying opinions as to the best route. Personally I prefer the Portsmouth / Caen route (longer ferry, but less driving) which takes about 7 hrs once this side o...
