Cottage
A delightful picture book Cottage set at the edge of a hamlet in the Charente Maritime.
The cottage is at the end of a cul de sac and looks over open country side.
A very peaceful Cottage but within an hour of the coast. It is set in an area full of interest and the nearest town of St Jean de Angley
is a short drive away. A lovely town with winding cobble streets, medieval architecture and a market Wednesdays and Saturdays,
Lots of lovely Bars and Restaurants and interesting shops.
The cottage, who for many years was the family holiday home for the owners, has been updated with an open plan
feel downstairs and devided into two bedrooms, one double and the other a twin, landing and shower room, recently updated.
It is equipped to a very high standard with all the kitchen equipment one ha...

An absolute gem
I have been visiting this cottage each summer for the past 8 years. The location is perfect, the cottage is utterly charming and garden is well tended. It is so peaceful that the only thing we hear are the church bells that chime on the hour. We pop to the bakery in Loulay which is a 5 minute drive away for fresh patisserie in the morning. The nearest town, St Jean D'Angely is a 20 min drive away and is steeped in history. It has a superb twice weekly market, helpful tourist info, a couple of good museums and decent shops and supermarkets. The days out from the cottage we have done include Ferme de Magne (fab kids farm with bouncy castles), amazing mini boats at St Savinien, La Rochelle, Rochefort, Fort Boyard, punting in Marais De Poitevin, shopping, galleries and Roman amphitheatre in Saintes, a local zoo, chateaus, horse riding and it is a half hour walk to the local sculpture garden.
Best of all, we just love relaxing at the cottage, going for sunset walks around the village and surrounding countryside, sitting in the 'secret garden' in the evenings having a glass of wine and star gazing.
The cottage has everything we need for a comfortable self catering holiday and every time we leave we can't wait to return.

Great little cottage
If your looking for peace and quiet then this is the place, it's on the edge of a small hamlet with open fields to one side, we had a very relaxing week, it's well equipped with everything you need and the owners are nearby and very friendly. My only
negative is we found the bed uncomfortable but that's it! We would thoroughly recommend it and will definitely return if we get the chance.

Avoid
For the last 22 years we have been staying in France this is the worse place, when we arrived the floor was covered with insets , the dining terrible was full of hair, it looks like white dog hair, the Toilette /sink was dirty not been cleaned at all. The bed was very uncomfortable, the place hadn't been cleaned for years.Very small ,TV very out of date. out of nowhere , the nearest town had only one place to eat and was terrible , we were 2 hours for the coast at least.we couldn't sleep at nite the dogs barking all the time.Took photos to show that there was a bugs in the bed we kept been bitten all. As far as I am concern this is not what is advertised on the web site.very miss leading . This id the only time we all wanted to leave.as far as we concern it spoilt our holiday completely.

Completely untrue ! as this was the state of the cottage after the visit!
Very good comments after every other guest departure so did these people, who we saw most days and said how happy they were! get the wrong address? St Jean d' Angely is a beautiful town with dozens of
Restaurants and Bars at least two of Michelin standard food. How was this missed? Bugs? Of course there are Mosquitos, the Charente is 400 mile further south and precautions do to be taken, all stated in the information pack. We always hope our guests enjoy their stay and do all we can to make this happen and as we live next door if there is any problem we can always sort it out.
