A Perfect Homely Irish Cottage By The Sea
About 3 miles from the lovely sea-side town of Lahinch, Bar Tra Cottage sits on the main coast road to Milltown Malbay. The cottage is set back a short drive off the main road, with amazing views across Liscannor Bay. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 lounge areas and a well appointed kitchen. The decor is amazing, with many pictures and art pieces that celebrate the rich Irish heritage of the area. There is a terrific garden area, with loads of seating and many, many statues of animals, and heads, like the statues on Easter Island. Sadly the weather during our stay did not lend itself to making good use of the outside area, but it was handy for taking some terrific photos of the bay and some wonderful rainbows. The cottage was really comfortable, and surprisingly warm, with central heating. The owner, Sheila, did visit and give us instruction on how to light the wood burners, but we didn't need them, as a combination of the unseasonably mild weather and the central heating kept the cottage comfortably warm. Sheila left us some turf to burn, along with some fresh eggs (which were delicious) and some bottled water when the local pipes burst, which was unexpected, but very welcome. We used the cottage as a base to visit relatives in nearby Ennis and Newmarket on Fergus, as well as a whole host of 'touristy' visits. We spent time in Ennis, visited Bunratty Castle, went to the Dolmen Portal Tomb at Poulnabrone on the Burren, and went to the amazing Cliffs of Moher. We also spent a lot of time in Lahinch, visiting the local shops, and eating in some of the restaurants. Of special note were 'Raviolo Verde' which had the most amazing pizzas, 'Spoonies' for take away fish and chips, and 'Danny Macs' where we had dinner one evening. We used Supervalu in Ennistymon for our grocery shopping, which is a short drive away, and there is also a ALDI there if you prefer. We also visited "The Rock Shop' in Liscannor, which does great cake and coffee, and sells the most amazing range of souvenirs, jewellery, rocks and fossils. We had the most amazing time at Bar Tra Cottage, and would most definitely recommend it, and would love to visit again. Sheila, the owner, has a great little property, and really looks after you to ensure you have a good time

Just stunning ..
We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights in March ‘22. We had the most amazing time. The cottage has everything you need. It has 3 bedrooms. The master downstairs and 2 upstairs, the kids had a bedroom each which was great. It has a TV in the main living room area and then another in the extension part... The dog was happy out sitting in the sun, the garden is enclosed which made it extra safe for the kids and dog…it is a great size with lots of seating then you can sit in the front outdoor area in the morn as it gets the sun then .. the views are just stunning and having the sun just made it that bit more beautiful… we definitely could of stayed for a lot longer .. I loved that it was mins away in the car to Lahinch (you wouldn’t walk this, well not with kids anyrate). Thanks to Sheila for allowing us stay here, she dropped in fresh eggs and turf. Thank you Sheila we will definitely be back ! Sonia, Morgan, kids and Otis.

Beautiful-highly recommend
We absolutely loved our stay at Barrtra cottage. It’s an amazingly charming 3 bedroom cottage set on a farm with views of the sea. We have two small kids and they loved exploring the cottage and gardens. This is a really unique property. It’s also very well equipped and stocked with everything you would need. It’s surprisingly warm and very cosy. It’s about 5 mins drive from lehinch which is lovely and a 30 minute drive from the cliffs of Moher etc. Would definitely recommend this as a holiday rental and really super alternative to a hotel. Thanks to Sheila and her family for having us, and for the lovely fresh eggs

Idyllic cottage in a beautiful setting
We had high expecations for our cottage near the west coast of Ireland in County Clare but Bar Tra Cottage exceeded our expectations. The cottage is beautifully furnished with wall-to-wall art and the view out every window is spectacular. Nestled in a quiet country setting, it is nevertheless easily accessible to all of the attractions of western Ireland -- grassy seaside walks, spectacular cliffs, ancient monuments, musical evenings in lively pubs, sheep dog demonstrations, caves, local arts and crafts and, always, open, friendly and welcoming people.

Even better than our highest expectations!
The cottage is a perfect getaway, ideally located for all of the attractions of County Clare. In an idyllic rural setting, it is nevertheless close to many attractions, great music and offers magnificent vistas from all angles. It is beautifully furnished with exquisite furnishings and art everywhere. We like to cook and the facilities were very good for this. The only drawback was that we have to leave after only a week -- we could have stayed for months! And Sheila was an ideal hostess, and very responsive to our questions and needs.,.

Fantastic location
Bar Tra Cottage is definitely a unique place to stay, it has a wonderful view of fields rolling down to the ocean. It has 3 bedrooms,1 downstairs with an unattached bathroom with shower only, toilet & sink and 2 bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom with shower only, toilet & sink. It has a small washer in the kitchen as well as a dryer in a utility shed outside the house. Two cozy fireplaces are in both the living room & the family room which we used alot as Sheila was kind enough to bring us turf as well as fresh eggs from her hens. Our stay here was comfortable & Sheila couldn't have been a more gracious host, she saw to our every need. If your looking to stay in this area, Bar Tra is definitely a good choice, you won't be disappointed.
