My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. The location is great, with plenty of good restaurants and pubs in Ballina and is also a great base for some beautiful drives around Mayo and Connemara. The house is really well laid out, is cozy and homely, and has everything you could need - in fact, the only thing that matches it is the warmth and friendliness of the owner, Gina, who could not be more helpful and thoughtful. We definitely hope to return sometime this year!

We've been able to stay in several areas of western Ireland over the past few years and County Mayo rates with the most enjoyable. The proximity of Ballina to a number of picturesque areas, e.g., Achill Island, made Caledonia an excellent choice. Our three-week stay was gratifying in many ways. The home is spacious and fully equipped. The location, a few minutes' walk or drive from the downtown area with shopping, restaurants, etc., made living there trouble-free. The owner, Gina Murphy, along with her brother, Alan, helped us with suggestions of places to go and things to do in the general area. Their help was invaluable. For a relaxing vacation, we recommend Caledonia without reservation.

The house was super easy to find and upon first entering we were in awe. A spacious hall which led to such a lovely kitchen with a little den to the left. In the den was where my 18 year old daughter spent most of her days listening to music with the fire on. The den was also the place where we spent the nights playing family games such as monopoly which the owner had very thoughtfully left for us. There were games, books,dvds and much more to entertain all of my family. There are 3 spotless toilets, 2 showers and a bath - so no complaints about having to queue to get into the shower! The living room was spacious and inviting, with 3 decent sized rooms with the most comfiest bed. It really made such a difference. When I say you wanted for nothing - i really do mean that! The owner had left us a gorgeous little fry pack, milk, tea, coffee and more. There was an abundance of clean towels and toiletries, with 2 hair dryers in each room. My 6 year old sons favourite part was the immaculate large back garden, with badminton nets and toys for him to play with. There was also a fantastic park only a few moments away. I genuinely could not recommended this house enough, I think this could very easily become our destination for our annual family getaway! Thank you Gina for all the little things that made our family holiday that little bit extra special!

Caledonia is a large well equipped homely house which was just to our taste. It is well located for Ballina Town and Enniscrone and we will certainly book again when we are next in Ballina.

I don't know where to start! I've heard from a friend this house was the most welcoming place ever and that I should try it, so when I needed a little break from every day stress, I decided to come here and it did not disappoint! From location, to decor and coziness, this place ticks all the boxes! 3 lovely bedrooms, each with a unique theme, a colour scheme and big, thick comfy heated mattress! I can't overstate how comfortable these beds are, I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning! 2 big bathrooms, huge kitchen that is facing the back garden, with massive windows to let as much light as possible, I was just standing there every morning and appreciate the moments. "The den" is a small room with a fireplace where I spent most time reading books, and Gina, the owner has loads to choose from, poetry, geography, history, some really old ones too, like from the 19th century. The living room has a fireplace and a big chess board, next to it is a dining room with a heavy wooden table and chairs, you feel like being in a castle really. In the back there is a big garden with bbq and table and benches, all protected in case of rain. All in all, I will be back as soon as I can and I'm already looking forward to it, I highly recommend you come here too, I'm sure you will be at least as satisfied as I was if not more!!!

The house was clean and warm, homely, and bigger than I was expecting from the photos. Gina was very welcoming and accommodating!

This was our first visit to ballina and it won't be our last. Gina's home was like a home from home for us, the house was so cosy and welcoming. There were 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and laundry area. Fully equipped kitchen etc. We have two small children and the property was perfect with a large back garden and deck area with bbq (which we made great use of). The house is also only a short walk from town along the River Moy. It was amazing for us as we were within 5 mins drive of both pony trekking at iceford stables and coilte woodland walks at Belleek Castle. We had the best time and Gina is a wonderful host.

I'm a bit late in writing this review as we had personal stuff going on in the family . I had Gina's contact details and then on a trip to see my brother I dropped my phone in the Sea and lost contacts etc much !! Myself and my Sisters decided to go back to Ireland to visit my Mother's home in mayo and my Father's home in Sligo. We had the time of our lives and this house made it even more special as clean and very timely. Gina who I spoke to but never met sounded so sincere and careing and the welcome pack was an unexpected surprise but then this is Ireland always giving warm and generous. Beautiful spacious house. Three lovely bedrooms. Three toilets, two showers. Kitchen with all necessary appliances. Utility room with washing machine and dryer. Welcome pack of food provided. Owner welcomed us personally and was available to help with settling in. Our daughter is very young and the house was very suitable. Walking distance from the town. Play park very close by. Short drive to the beach. Parking in driveway. Very clean, very warm. Would definitely recommend. Back garden looked very nice with barbecue, but we didn't use these resources. Wifi available.

This is a wonderfully equipped property with all the facilities you might require regardless of what the weather might bring. The host was unable to welcome us personally so they walked us round the property over the phone. Nothing was too much trouble! Parking is ample, there's a covered veranda with BBQ, enclosed rear grassed garden (ideal for kids), laundry room (useful if you get caught in a shower), full WiFi, magnificent kitchen and all the extras you could conceivable expect!! The property is on the main Sligo road which gives easy access up the coastal road. There's a playground about 100yards away. The main town is about half a mile down the road which we found was easily within walking distance.
