You will find Castlerock's unspoilt beach, the River Bann's Barmouth, Hezlett House, Mussenden and Downhill Demesne all within walking distance. Castlerock lies within the Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which includes the stunning cliffs of Avish, minutes away by car. Dunluce Castle, The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Whitepark Bay, Bushmills Distillery, the coastal towns of Portrush and Portstewart (and beautiful Portstewart Strand) are all within easy reach. The Foyle ferry (seasonal) at Magilligan, crossing to Greencastle, Co Donegal, is approximately 15 minutes drive away.
Travel from Castlerock railway station on one of the most scenic railway trips in the world, according to Michael Pallin, to Derry/Londonderry. Once there join one of the guided walking tours to explore the city walls, the best example in the UK and one of the best in Europe and learn more about the maiden city.
Take a ferry across the Sea of Moyle to Rathlin Island and enjoy its natural beuaty. Explore the rugged landscape, admire the magnificent views and visit the RSPB Seabird Centre.
If you want a golfing holiday, you will be spoilt with choice which includes Castlerock Championship Golf Course, Royal Portrush, Roe Valley Park Golf Club, Bushfoot Golf Club, Kilrea Golf Club and Portstewart Golf Club. Local golfing events include Castlerock Golf Club Open Week and 2010 North Coast Links Tournament.
There is a range of shops and pubs in the area all close to our self-catering accommodation in Castlerock or, for a wide range of shops, a 10 minute drive will take you to Coleraine. If you want to leave the car behind, there is a railway station a short walk away as well as bus links to neighbouring towns.
Crusoes highly acclaimed Castlerock coffee shop on Sea Road is always popular with locals and visitors alike. There are other local eateries to try too or travel further along the coast to some ever popular venues.
