Just returned from a week's stay at Christmas with 4 adults and 2 small children, and I have to start my review by saying that the view from the house is beyond words - watching the changes in water color due to tides, clouds, etc, was absolutely amazing and something we all kept mentioning throughout our week's stay. The house is no shrinking violet, either! It is very well appointed and kept up - everything from higher-end pool chairs (and plenty of outdoor seating, too), nice sea kayaks, nice bed linens, very well stocked kitchen, etc. Truthfully, we did have a couple of issues while we were there, but James' (the owner) responsiveness and quickness to solve the issues was outstanding and show why this home gets 5-star ratings on almost every site. Joanes, the caretaker, is also wonderful and always answered his phone any time we had to call. The travel guide that James provided before our trip was extremely helpful, as this was our first visit to the Exumas. I would add to it a suggestion to visit Coco Plum beach for sand dollar hunting at low tide, and Tropic of Cancer Beach for the most beautiful beach to spend a day at.
I did want to mention a couple of things that should not reflect poorly on the house but might be helpful to other travelers:
1) The roads from the main road (Queens Highway) to the house are VERY rough. We had to rent a mini van due to the size of our party; if we are fortunate enough to travel back here again, I would try to rent a jeep/truck. Navigating the roads in a van added about a 10 minute drive from the house to the main road. This is not the house's fault:)
2) The pool is beautiful but a little deep for small children. This is purely a personal preference, but I'd say kids need to be able to swim independently in order to use it (ledges in the shallow end making jumping in tough for small kids, and the shallow end is deep for an adult trying to hold a child). The ocean behind the house is extremely shallow, though, so a great alternative for swimming! If you just had a group of adults, this would be a complete non-issue, so I certainly wouldn't knock the rating on the house for this.
3) There is one adjacent home site under construction, so there are crews to be aware of. The other neighboring home is very close to Sea Breeze, so you do gamble a bit with what kind of renters you have there. The group who was renting it when we first checked in was not the best (lacking in neighborly etiquette, to put it nicely); another group checked in mid-week, and they did not bother us at all. You can't fault Sea Breeze for this - just luck of the draw!
I hope folks don't the wrong idea from the tips I mentioned above; I've already recommended the house to friends and hope to return for a visit myself again!
