Casa Del Falco is a small working olive farm lying deep in the Abruzzan countryside. Reached only by somewhat rutted 'white roads', it provides an authentic flavour of rural Abruzzo. Casa Del Falco is situated midway between the small hill towns of Castiglione Messer Raimondo and Bisenti. Both towns have populations of around 2,500 people and have beautiful medieval centres that have so far escaped 'gentrification'. With magnificent scenery all around, the white roads are well suited to walkers as well as the more adventurous motorist. Traditional farming methods also mean that there is an abundance of butterflies and other local wildlife. With magnificent scenery all around, the white roads are well suited to walkers as well as the more adventurous motorist. Traditional farming methods also mean that there is an abundance of butterflies and other local wildlife. The farm is bounded by two deep, wooded 'fossa' (gullies) that provide a haven for birds and, in May/June, fireflies. Throughout the summer, there are lizards everywhere, crickets can be heard and there are wild flowers in profusion. The farm has a number of fruit trees, including peaches, figs, pomegranates and walnuts, which can be freely picked in season. Good local shops provide an abundance of fresh local food and wine and the area is well served for meals out by pizzerias, rosticcerias and agrotourismo restaurants. Although little English is spoken, the people of Abruzzo provide visitors with the warmest of welcomes. The historical centres of Penne (Roman Pini) and Atri (Roman Hadri) are within half an hour's drive and within three quarters of an hour, you can be on the coast or deep in the mountains of the Apennines. Abruzzo has the highest percentage of protected rural areas of anywhere in Europe (33% of its entire area). The house has two good-sized bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a large living/dining area. There is a small but fully equipped kitchen and a shower room with all the facilities, including a washing machine. The house is ideal for those wanting a quiet holiday in spectacular Italian countryside.More

I was lucky enough to spend 5 days at Casa Del Falco this spring. The location really is brilliant, it is removed enough to feel completely secluded, but close enough to local villages and towns not to make the experience difficult or draining. The casa...More

Amazing property with stunning views. Particularly enjoyed having bbqs on the patio and the pizza oven was an unexpected bonus. The surrounding area was serene and beautiful, with mountains to climb or gorgeous, historic towns to visit. Perfect 5 day break from work, 10/10 would...More

Absolutely stunning scenery. Not the easiest place to get to but that's what makes this place so special, not another house in sight. Ideal place to get away from the world and relax in one of the most picturesque locations I've ever been.

Lovely holiday home in the middle of Italian countryside. Short drive from supermarkets and local towns and villages, though I was quite happy sitting on the patio with a view of snow covered mountains.

Travelled here with a group of friends in early May 2015. The villa is in a very rural location with breathtaking views over Abruzzan countryside onto snow capped mountains behind. There is a national park a couple of hours away which made a great day...More
