Tucán House - Unique
The house is so cool. It’s in the jungle with fresh fruit trees, has all kinds of wildlife (many birds), local places to swim in a couple different rivers, Poas Volcano, and a ton of waterfalls in the area. It is a very local experience as Gloria can arrange home cooked meals by neighbors, get milk and cheese next door, and even moonshine down the street 😂

Perfect
We could not rate this place more highly. Gloria gave us so much information and responded quickly when we had questions. The house is peaceful and unique and has all the amenities necessary. The grounds surrounding the house are beautiful. There are books, games, and music available in your down time from visiting the many sites nearby. Do yourself a favor and book your stay soon.

Unique home, beautiful property, great for nature lovers!
Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) stayed in this home for 4 nights. It was easy to find with GPS coordinates provided by the owner, Gloria. Communications with Gloria were excellent - from the welcome emails prior to our arrival to checking in with us to ensure we'd settled in. The house is spacious and well-stocked with housewares and some basic cooking supplies (oils, herbs and spices, etc). The grounds are beautiful with all manner of plants, some fruit trees, and even pineapples growing in various spots on the grounds. Birders will love the wide variety of bird species that can be seen right from the patio - we also saw an agouti (large rodent) walk through the garden daily. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a short drive away, and a couple of the waterfalls can be visited from the main road, without entering the gardens. The views from the road are spectacular as well. I would advise arriving during daylight hours as clouds/fog can take over the road at higher elevations making driving difficult. Highly recommend this home for a relaxing stay and a home base for day trips to the various local attractions/activities. We would definitely consider a repeat stay if we return to the area in the future.

Awesome!
This was a great place to stay. Plenty of room and comfortable. The house has a safe, secluded yet open feel. The owner gave us some pointers for shopping in town and the markets were very friendly. We prepared a great meal in the well equipped kitchen and had our pick of several covered outdoor settings to eat. The kids had plenty of room to explore and play. They were super excited when we spotted both Toucans and Howler Monkeys in the trees on the property. We hope to visit again.

A perfect stay in a stunning house with a great host
Gloria´s house is just stunning. The bathrooms and the kitchen have a spectacular design AND are working as well :-)
There are rocking chairs, a sofa and a bar which make it comfortable to sit, read, play or eat. Every room has a door that leads outside.
I think the sitting area around the house is best of all. During breakfast you see several kinds of toucans and lots of other birds, sometimes we saw (and heard) howler monkeys in the trees. You can always find something to eat if you take a stroll through the garden.
Although it´s pretty secluded there is a paved road leading to the house.
In the house you´ve got a dishwasher, a washing machine and a dryer, which are always handy.
And Gloria herself helped us a lot in making our stay ane even more pleasant one. She once even did a daytrip with us and took us swimming to a local waterfall with noone else there. A place we couldn´t have found without her.
Thank you Gloria for everything, we very much enjoyed your company and being guests in your house!

This place grew and grew on us
We stayed 4 nights and it was quite a wrench to leave. Great place, Really well-equipped with everything you could need. On the very (very) wet day we sat on the veranda and watched the huge array of birds who visited the 'feeding table'. Lots of different seating areas, including hammocks. We felt that a car was pretty essential here, but you may not. Village has bakery, butchers and supermarket. Lots of fab places to visit in the area. We loved it.

Sleeping in Paradise
We stayed unfortunately only 2 nights in that wonderful house with a huge garden. We felt like being in paradise. Nobody wanted to leave. We saw more toucans and colourful birds in that very big areal than in our entire 3 weeks round trip of Costa Rica. The house is more than a Finca. The entire house and garden is very big and perfect for a family or a group. It is designed very originel, has a great architecture, colourful painted and superb design and interior. The house was very clean and well equiped. Next time we would stay more than 2 nights there. In that region there are a lot of thinks to do. We made Rafting at the Sarapiqui River and went to the La Paz Catarata-Waterfalls. Near to the house is a small river, where you can find waterholes for refreshing. It is near to the Vulvan Poas and the Parque Nacional Braulio Carillo. In the near are 2 good restaurants. We made our stopp there from the way to Lake Arenal and were coming from Tortuguero.
Thanks Gloria, your house is great!

Superb place to stay in San Miguel area
We stayed for two days and then extended our stay an additional day as no one wanted to leave. The place was spacious, with its own wonderful funkiness (think one purple wall), lots of openness, light, an outstanding garden surrounding the house with bananas dangling from the trees, great walk in showers (and outdoor showers), plenty of space outdoors to hang (including two massive hammocks), and birds galore...more toucans than I could count as well as a cow next door. It was a superb way to start our vacation. Not far from San Jose, an hour from Poas, close to Arenal (about 1 hr and a half) with plenty to do in the area. A number of botanical gardens to visit, although truth be told, the backyard was enough for us. We even found a local "watering hole" to dip in just down the road, a mineral spring not far away to relax in one afternoon, and an outstanding coffee company not far. Gloria, our hostess, was the best ever. Her house has so much character. We loved it. Highly recommend. Trust your GPS and look for a gate on your right as the entrance.
