Overview
Ceret, Pyrenees-Orientales, Occitanie
Boutique-style, well-appointed studio, really light and spacious and close to all amenities in this gorgeous town. Plane trees shade the streets circling the ancient church; many bars and restaurants offer open air dining. Picasso founded Céret’s prestigious modern art museum; collections include his work along with those by Matisse and Chagall. Local walks pass cork oaks, olive trees, cherry orchards and grapevines, offering breathtaking views of Pic de Canigou. Swim at the nearby lake at St Jean, or at Mediterranean beaches half an hour away. Shops, café/bars and restaurants are all around the town. No smoking, please.

Saturday market is excellent as is Le Grand Cafe which has the wit to describe a large pression as "Serieux Pelforth". Valerie and Jay are most welcoming and helpful hosts. Don't miss two excellent Chagalls and a fine collection of Auguste Herbins in the town museum.

My first visit to Ceret. . .and I felt like a local. Stayed in this wonderfully comfortable, well appointed apartment with lovely views, and a short walk to the charming town. Hiking the nearby hills is not to be missed - beautiful vistas at every turn. June is cherry season (cerise!), what a treat! Don't miss the Saturday morning market...

Management response:

Thanks for your enthusiasm...it matches ours! You came at a great time of year, too, when the first cherries in France ripen, and the town sends a box of these gorgeous red fruits to the president himself. There's so much to do, no matter what the time of year, so we'll look forward to welcoming you again whenever you'd like...

Additional amenities & feature info
The apartment is ideal for two, or for a couple with a young child. It was originally a one-bedroom, but it felt cramped, so we took down all the walls to start again! Now it's really spacious, and we've uncovered and restored old oak beams and a lovely tiled floor. The fixtures and fittings are contemporary, keeping with the French love of combining old and new. The bed and linens are really comfy, and there are plush towels, including beach towels. The kitchen is really well-equipped, by an owner who loves to cook and knows how fun it is to shop the local market and little shops and prepare meals at home...on occasion, of course! The studio is close to everything - it's really in the centre of the town - so you have a tremendous choice of local shops, bars and restauran... more
