Monet is one of four luxury apartmentks at Maison Pierre D'Or, a traditional stone house on the edge of the medieval centre of Sarlat in the stunning Perigord Noir region of Dordogne in south west France.
Monet is an excellent base from which to explore the town and its surrounding countryside. It's ideal for couples, and is within an easy stroll to the medieval centre.
Sarlat is a lively, vibrant town and is full of tourists, especially in July and August, but if you want the convenience of being in Sarlat to enjoy the restaurants and markets, medieval buildings and squares, and entertainment, we’re perfectly located.

Monet apartment is the place to stay in Sarlat-la-Canéda
Our weeklong stay at the Monet apartment was wonderful. The apartment is the perfect size for two people with very comfortable rooms, including a large living room, a very comfortable bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Parking was readily available on the property. The location is superb for visiting beautiful locations in the Dordogne and Lot regions such as Rocamadour, Domme and Pech Merle. And the nice town of Sarlat-la-Canéda was walking distance and loaded with good restaurants, boulangeries, etc. A true highlight was getting to know the owners, Ahm and Maggie. In short, they are wonderful people readily available and happy to provide everything you need to thoroughly enjoy your stay with them. We highly recommend Monet, luxury holiday apartment when staying in the area.

Only a few minutes walk into the amazing medieval centre of Sarlat. A good base for exploring the beautiful area.
We were extremely pleased with our accommodation, our hosts were very helpful and friendly.

Fabulous apartment with an easy walk into Sarlat centre!
This apartment is just a 15 minutes walk into the centre of Sarlat, where you will find lots of restaurants, bars and shops.
On arrival, we were delighted at the standard of this apartment. Every last detail had been considered, including a picnic cool bag, with freezer blocks and a rug. Proabably the best equipped apartment we have rented in France!
Our host, Maggie is such a lovely lady, she immediately made us feel at home. It's worth taking the time to read her 'what to do in the area' manual which was really helpful and mapped our days out for us really easily. This area of France is outstandingly beautiful. So many opportunities for amazing photographs!
We would have no hesitation in booking the same apartment if we return to Sarlat and in fact we would be very disappointed if it were already booked!

Lovely!
My 2 teenage daughters and I spent 3 nights here and were thrilled with both the accommodations and the location.
The terrace and the rooms were lovely, the bed and pullout couch were comfortable, and everything we needed was right there. We were very thankful to have a clothes washer since we were halfway through our vacation.
It was easy to walk into the historic centre ville and also convenient by car.
The area had so many fun activities and sites that we couldn't do them all in 3 days. We would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity to return.

A magic stay in Sarlat
A wonderful week in Sarlat. A great location and very comfortable. We were made welcome from the start of our stay. The apartment was first rate and very convenient for touring the surrounding countryside. Absolutely recommend.

Thank you for a brilliant week at Maison Pierre d’Or in Monet - it delivered everything we could have hoped for. The apartment is lovely, spacious and comfortable and has everything you might need! Had a brilliant stay - recommend the apartment and Maggie and Ahm as wonderful hosts. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely week in Sarlat
Had a fab week in this lovely apartment. Everything you needed was there. Very clean and we made good use of the lovely terrace, especially after being out and about during the day. We only went into Sarlat twice but it had some lovely spots and we missed the markets too due to arriving on Saturday and being out on Wednesday. Would thoroughly recommend this great base for a week in this stunning area.

Fabulous!!!
A big thank you to Maggie and Ahm for a beautiful apartment, so tastefully decorated and furnished. Always around for information about local attractions, restaurants etc, but never intrusive. The proximity of the apartment to Sarlat meant we could stroll in and soak up the atmosphere of the town whilst enjoying Coffee, food, wine or on some occasions all three!
Your suggestions about driving routes to the Bastide towns and places of interest in the Vezere valley were very useful.
We had an amazing holiday, still telling everyone about it.
Hopefully we will find another opportunity to come again in the not too distant future

Lovely apartment, superbly equipped in an ideal location
Monet apartment is a beautifully decorated, well equipped apartment with a lovely balcony to sit out and enjoy the pretty garden. Maggie is very friendly and a great host. It's a lovely 10 minute walk into Sarlat. Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the Dordogne.

About the neighborhood
Sarlat la Caneda is in the Perigord Noir in the Dordogne region of France. The town is famous for its medieval buildings in the centre. It is beautiful, especially in the summer when its streets and squares are bustling with markets and events and lovely restaurants.
The surrounding area is stunning. In every direction you will drive along breathtakingly beautiful roads dotted with picturesque little villages. There are castles, caves, gardens, beaches on the river, cycle tracks, hot air balloons, kayaking, etc etc etc. Whether you want to relax in a little bistro enjoying the local wines and traditional fare, or you fancy exploring the caves, there is something for everyone.
Getting around
It is useful to have a car if you intend to explore the surrounding area.
The shops, restaurants, bars and street market are about 5-10 minutes walk from the house, but the nearest supermarket is about 2 kilometres away.
There is a list of taxi companies in the Guest Handbook in the apartment, and information about organised tours should you wish to visit the Lascaux caves or the castles and gardens as part of a tour.
