The Little Wolf is a charming, romantic and very comfortable holiday apartment with 2 small balconies. Ideal for a romantic and pampering stay in every season. Located on the first floor of our large Renaissance house built on the ramparts (1291) just near the Schœnenbourg vineyard, this lovely apartment for 2 people occupies the site of the medieval householder's lodging. A few steps above the garden, the apartment faces south and west. It is extremely bright, thanks to its glazed living room, built as a winter garden on the first level of the great oriel window (large Alsatian bow window) which adorns the south facade of the building. Of course, all the utensils needed are there, including everything to prepare a good breakfast: toaster, coffee maker, Nespresso coffee machine, water boiler and tea pot ... Just behind an old timbered wall opening onto the lounge is the dining area: simply reach out to catch the toast! A cosy couch is waiting for you in front of the flat-screen TV. On sunny days, do not hesitate to have breakfast on the small covered balcony, perfect also for a snack outdoors. After a busy day of sightseeing and excursions, the bedroom, romantic and luxurious, offers a very comfortable queen size bed (160 x 200 cm) with a beautiful small bathroom en suite. Old timber, wall paneling and solid oak flooring create a warm atmosphere in any season and help make this apartment a comfortable little cocoon. The apartment is air conditioned. This was an amazing rental. It is in a historic building & is equipped with everything one could imagine. It was absolutely immaculate! My only problem is I have not visited Riquewihr for about 10 years & it has become a tourist mecca! Even in early October, it was difficult to find parking at times. The property is located on a side street, so the tourist noise is not a problem.

It was the highlight of our 4 week trip in Europe.Half of which was spent at this accommodation. The Little Wolf was a wonderful haven after a day’s touring with every modern convenience but still with old world charm . Congratulations on your restoration. Your staff, Valerie and Natalie were charming and always there to help with advice and information . The apartment is located a stones throw from the main street of the town and the very good restaurants. The location is very quiet and abuts the vineyards. Our only regret is that you are so far away from Australia and a return visit is unlikely , however we have recommended you to all our friends . Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to express our satisfaction with your apartment

Dear Judith, Thank you for spending half of your European trip with us in Riquewihr. The Little Wolf apartment you have stayed in earned its official 5 star classification in April 2018. But when we purchased that big Renaissance house built in 1580 it was just an amount of ruins. Bushes were growing through it. Many people thought we were crazy. But our team of craftsmen specializing in the restoration of historic buildings has allowed us to create an exceptional ensemble of 6 holiday apartments surrounding a garden. Our craftsmen used the same know-how and materials as in the past. The century-old beams have been treated with herbal infusions. The parquet is in solid oak. Even the tile adhesive in the bathroom is natural and does not contain any dangerous chemicals. We wanted our visitors to feel good. Learning that you have had a good stay is the best reward for us. And thank you for recommending us to your friends. Riquewihr itself is right in the middle of the Alsace Wine Route. on the Rhine River border with Germany. Alsace is unquestionably spectacularly beautiful. A very special combination of history, culture, scenery, and especially food and wine makes it one of the most delightful places to visit in all of Europe. Riquewihr is a very practical base to visit all Alsace, the Vosges mountains and even nearby Germany and Switzerland.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Little Wolf in Riquewihr. Not only is the location idyllic, but the apartment was wonderful. The decor is tasteful and adds to the overall feel of staying in this charming village. The apartment is fully equipped with top-class amenities, including a heated towel rack, a dishwasher, and even a Christmas tree for the holiday season. Communication with the owners and their local manager was easy and friendly, and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking for a wonderful stay in the Alsace.

Stayed for 8 days before and over Christmas period. The apartment was fitted with everything you needed and finished to high standard. The Christmas Fair was magical - unfortunately snow arrived on the day we left. Plenty of good restaurants so no need to leave village in evening.

In December I went to France solo for a very short stay in order to get the feel of Christmas and of he Christmas markets. Indeed I did, and I must say that Riquewhir was like a doll's village. I spent 2 nights at the Little Wolf apartment and felt completely safe and comfortable. There was more than I needed and what was very important to me coming from a warm country, was the perfectly regulated heating. Also, I would like to mention Valerie's friendliness. I could feel that she genuinely loves people. Reading the brochure in the apartment, I ate a wonderful dinner in the nearest restaurant recommended.. Finally, I wish to highlight the owner, Jean Paul and his kindness. He planned a photographing tour of Muhlouse especially coordinated with my flight, so as to pick me up at the train station, giving me a free ride of 40 minutes to the door of the apartment, thus sparing me a complicated and expensive ride by bus and taxi after a long flight. This thoughtful gesture reached me right to the heart. I feel privileged to have had this holiday!

The apartment is very comfortable - great sofa and bed. It is stylishly redone with lots of windows that open to 2 directions. It is minimally but adequately stocked. The maid service is great. The location is 2 short blocks to the old town square with walking to lots of bars and restaurants. Only caution is that it is up several flights of steep stairs and there is no elevator. If climbing stairs isn't an issue, I recommend it!

Thank you for spending a few days with us in Riquewihr. The Little Wolf is part of an old medieval winery built on the defence wall of the thirteenth century. The property is listed as national heritage and had to be kept as close as possible to its original design. Just to be as helpful and precise as possible for any guest having difficulties with stairs here is a precise description. There is no elevator in the house but the stair case inside the house was rebuilt according to the newest standards with a riser of 17 centimers height only (0,55 ft) and a tread of 30 centimeters minimum (1 ft). So this flight of stairs should be very easy to climb. The Little Wolf apartment as well as the Fox and Grapes is on the first upper level (21 steps only) when coming from the garden / street and the village. This single flight of steps is all what is to climb or descend when going from the apartment to the village and restaurants. When coming from the street outside of the ramparts (public parking) there is another flight of stairs to reach the upper part of the street and enter our garden and house. That stairs are on the public / street domain and several centuries old. There are 17 steps with a shorter tread and an irregular riser (12-20 cm). So that one is less comfortable but needs to be used only when arriving / leaving with the car.

About the neighborhood
Alsace is in eastern France on the Rhine River border with Germany. The Lonely Planet guides voted Alsace first among the top ten regions to be discovered in the world. Alsace is unquestionably spectacularly beautiful. A very special combination of history, culture, scenery, and especially food and wine makes it one of the most delightful places to visit in all of Europe Riquewihr is certainly the prettiest village in Alsace and certainly the jewel in the crown of the Alsace wine route - famous for the great Alsace wines produced here - the village looks today exactly as it did in the 16th Century. Riquewihr is a wonderful and romantic little medieval city hidden between the Vosges mountains and some of the most famous vineyards in Alsace.
Getting around
If you fly in for a longer stay we recommend you rent a car. For a short stay you may arrive by train in Colmar and from there take a bus or a taxi. We can arrange a taxi with an English speaking driver. Riquewihr is a very practical base to visit all Alsace, the Vosges mountains, the Black Forest in Germany and nearby Switzerland. We also can arrange electro-bikes for rent.
