Overview
Villa -
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5
Positano, Amalfi Coast, Campania
Historical buildings, Villa Cocles is part of a 17th century old convent and has a completely independent entrance, only 16 steps down from the main street. The Villa preserves all the spacious areas of the original convent structure with its six meters high arches, vaulted ceilings and patios. The results are stunning: a large loft-style area has been created in what once was the convent dining hall with communicating rooms. There are a master bedroom, directly facing the terrace, divided by an original sliding arabesque curtain from the living room and a second bedroom with an old marbled three-light window facing the living room. This room has two single beds that can be arranged as a matrimonial if you ask and has the size of a monastic bedroom: experiment simplicity of once life!
The kitchen is directly linked to the terrace; just ta...

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2017 for a stay in August 2016

Our family of 4 loved our stay at this villa. The location is away from the crowds at the beach. The villa location is quiet and the views amazing. We enjoyed walking the stairs down to the beach, not as easy going up. We took the bus once with the stop just right outside the villa. Not much around the...

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We absolutely loved this place. We had been looking forward to this holiday for months - it didn't let us down, full of character, exactly like the photos and with a moonlit view out of the bedroom that could have been used on a film set. We had Marina cook for us on our first night at villa Cocles. Her...
Positano's history is long, rich and also quite strange; one thing is certainn, however: it started a lond time ago. When Emperor Tiberius moved to Capri bacause he was disliked in Rome. He did not want bread made with local flour; therefore his three-oar boat went along the coast of Positano. This small center has had a remarkable past as part of the Amalfi Republic....in competition with Venice. In the XVII centuries Positano became enormously rich. Its ships arrived everywhere, traded with the near and Middle East, brought spices, silk and precious woods, greatly requested in the West.
It was at that time that the beautiful Baroque houses still st...
