Located on the peak of the bay of Positano, Villa del Vescovo was the residence for the Episcopal in the Baroque era in 1716 and was decorated with the best furnishings that was to be found in that period. The doors are of lacquered wood, the ceilings like paintings, the decorations in stucco and old lace, all made by the master craftsmanship of the era. Although Positano lived through times of crisis, Villa del Vescovo was never abandoned and remained in tack with all its’ luxury. Then in the beginning of the 1900’s, even during the war, by accident some tourists happened to be passing by and were shocked by the beauty of the area. This is how Positano slowly attracted more and more artists and people to fall in love with the place. Villa del Vescovo is within ten minutes’ walk to Positano where you will find a supermarket, restaurants and specialty boutiques. The closest beach from the villa is Marina Grande Beach at 1 km away. You may reach the villa from the main square of Positano by going up an 18th century street, then crossing a little street and go up 190 short steps, slowly while crossing a perfumed citrus garden. A car is not necessary to stay at Villa del Vescovo. If you have a car, you may park it in a public parking lot for an extra daily fee (valet service included). The villa and its’ services are well maintained and taken care of. There is a large satellite flat screen television, High-speed Wi-Fi internet, a Spa area with Turkish bath tub, sauna and thermal pool. The outdoor façade is painted with a hot red colour and light yellow. This pomegranate red was originally invented and used by the Romans and very typical in the area. Both the outdoors and indoors of the villa have been maintained in Baroque style originally Napoletano, characterized in the era of when it was built. Villa del Vescovo has a beautiful spectacular view of the sea, Positano and the main beach. From a distance, you may also admire the Islands dei Galli. First Floor The ground floor is divided into two areas separated by the main entrance hall that leads out onto either the terrace or a set of stairs leading either up to the first floor or down to the ground floor. The main entrance to the villa brings you into the large kitchen and dining room, both with vaulted ceilings painted in a warm, yellow-beige colour. The kitchen has a large antique stone fireplace, which was part of the original house and copper pots are exposed all over the kitchen walls. The kitchen is furnished with a wooden table, 6 chairs and wooden bench. There is an Antique wooden sideboard and flat screen TV. The large and fully equipped kitchen features antique tiled floors and offers an 8-range stovetop, oven, double marble sink and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room with a sink, large refrigerator with separate freezer. There are large, French wooden door that lead out onto the terrace. A formal dining room with library opens onto a tea-lounge and studio room. The dining area has a large wooden table with 6 antique wooden chairs from the 17th century. The dining room can be used for breakfast or elaborated lunch or dinners. Guests will also enjoy a library filled with rare books on art and history as well as more modern readings in many foreign languages. The tea lounge has a wonderful antique fireplace and two, large, comfortable armchairs. The studio corner has a wooden desk with flat screen computer and high-speed internet. The magnificent old paintings in the studio room depict Alessandro Magno and like in the kitchen, a large set of French wooden doors lead out onto the terrace. The beautiful terrace serves as an extension of the house lined with terracotta tiles and a built-in bench. The terrace is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views of the colourful and bright houses of Positano, the blue Mediterranean sea, the surrounding beaches, as well as the charming and romantic Galli islands located just in front of the coastline, once belonging to the infamous Russian ballerina, Nurijev. The terrace is also ideal for external meals and sunset cocktails. It features wrought iron tables topped with ceramic tiles and comfortable chairs for sitting and relaxing. Large umbrellas can also shade the terrace. Ground Floor A 19-step staircase made of prestigious stone will take you to a full relaxing wellness centre that is simply amazing. The floor is made of antique terracotta tiles alternated with majolica and its rooms feature vaulted ceilings from the 17th century with golden stucco decorations, partly in gold, allowing to achieve thMore
