Villa del Glicine is an old country residence settled at 'Oasi delle Salinelle', an estate of 26,000 sqm, a large and secret garden paradise containing groves of olive, and many others trees. It is located about just 6 km from the historic centre of the charming, age-old Norman town of Cefalu, and combines the natural scenic beauty and peacefulness of the countryside with direct access to the sea.
The Villa is very quiet and peaceful for most of the year, although in the summertime the beach attracts many visitors for its natural beauty, its soft sands and its safe bathing: this is Salinelle beach, among the most scenically beautiful of Cefalu. The area offers markets, pizzerias, restaurants, pubs, beach lidos, to mention just a few of the offerings available, all is at walking distance...Villa del Glicine is an old country residence settled at 'Oasi delle Salinelle', an estate of 26,000 sqm, a large and secret garden paradise containing groves of olive, and many others trees. This is a magic place, a true original Sicilian property, not a touristic residence or just an holiday house, you will feel at home and you will surely come back again, before or later :)
I cannot express enough what an amazing place this is. The villa is charming. Dario is a gracious host and made us feel like family. He is very accommodating and the villa has all the essentials and amenities you need, including a beautiful front patio for morning breakfast and coffee. The grounds are also beautiful - flowers and fruit trees adorn the villa. The location is perfect also - only a 2 minute walk to the gorgeous beach and a short drive to the city center of Cefalu, which I highly recommend visiting. I will definitely be visiting Cefalu again and staying at the villa will be a must! Thanks Dario for such an enjoyable experience for me and my family!

Perfect Sicilian Villa for a Family Holiday
We found the villa via Trip Advisor and from the initial contact up to our day of departure the owner Dario L was friendly and responsive. The Villa is about 5km west of Cefalu and offers a very comfortable and spacious house. 2 Couples and one single had more than enough space to spread out and relax without stepping on each others feet... The walk to the beach is a quick 5 minutes through the fruit and olive groves.
The house is in good condition and clean - outdoor grilling area needs a bit of revamping and upkeep, but more than acceptable for grilling (charcoal).
The owner Dario lives with his family next door and is very helpful if needed, but also non-intrusive.
Trash removal - renters are responsible for the trash - taking it to a local dumpster 500m down the road from the house.
We would very much recommend this to any group of 4-6 persons - up to 8 if you are willing to sleep on a futon or pull out sofa.
There is a nice pizza restaurant just around the corner and the nearest supermarket is 2km in the neighboring Lascari Village.

Paradise
As a party of nine we rented two villas: Wisteria for 6 people and Mulberry for 3. The setting surpassed my expectations; peace and tranquillity in a stunning setting: tangerine and lemon groves, olive and fig trees, jasmine plants, palms, succulents, etc etc. Each villa has its own outdoor shaded area with a big table, BBQ, and outdoor shower. A short and completely safe walk to the beach, without leaving the grounds. Whilst a car would be helpful, we managed without, as it was a 15-20 min walk to both the railway station and the supermarket; there is also a small grocer's a shorter walk away. There are also two restaurant/pizzerias again a short walk away. We arranged a pick up from/back to airport through a local transport company recommended by Dario, the owner, at a very reasonable rate. There are two friendly dogs and a cat that had just had kittens. What can I say? I'd go back tomorrow if I could.

Plenty of room inside and out with lots of shade, full of character.
The owner was very helpful and was most apologetic about noise from roadworks, which were totally beyond his control. However much we enjoyed our stay, three generations, it is rather close to a well used road. We had not researched this fact before booking, and on reflection it didn't spoil our stay, but we would bear it in mind for future bookings. The setting is beautiful, the path to the beach idealic, flowers, palms, cacti all lovely! The only criticisms we have are,
the bedding needs renewing, and be prepared for Mosquitos, so bring lots of repellant.
Cefalu, just ten minutes drive away is a delight, and Castlebueno is a must.
Happy holidays.

Beautiful villa with lemon and olive orchard, perfect for holidays with children
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa del Glicine. The house is very spacious, beautiful and full of interesting objects, also very well maintained and clean. The house looks in reality even better than on the pictures.
The kitchen has all you need for cooking, we were with a 4-year-old child and wanted to make some food including baking a cake and it was perfect.
The property is gorgeous, with lots of lemon and olive trees.
The house is a good place for people who like animals, on the property there were three dogs and a few cats that visited us frequently, cats to ask for food and dogs to play. We particularly loved the three-legged-dog who walked with us to the beach and who looks like a teddy bear.
The property stretches right to the beach which was very quiet and empty in May, we also watched some great sunsets and even a storm on one night.
For people who want to travel around Sicily it is helpful to have a car, but we used bicycles and it was good to get to the station, shops and from the station we could reach the charming town of Cefalu.
Dario was very friendly and made our stay even better, picked us up from the station, gave bikes to use and even made a small swimming pool for our little girl out of his inflatable boat.
There are a couple of nice restaurants very close from the property, food can be bought straight from farmers, but that happens during summer season and hasn't started when we were there (mid May).
We will definitely come back!

Cefalu House
I am afraid to tell the truth about Dario Livecchi and his property, just west of Cefalu. Why? Because everybody will want to go there and I am, for certain, planning on returning. There are multiple rental houses of different sizes; each one sits on a spectacular piece of land, heavily planted with olive trees, lemons trees, palms trees...and a private walk leading to Dario’s stretch of the Tyrrhenian Sea. We (four of us) stayed in the main house which has been in the Livecchi family for, oh, about 180 years. The house is great and comfortable, the land it sits on is classic Sicilian, and Dario is as charming and welcoming a host as I have ever met.

We want to go there again ...
We spent our holiday in this beautiful estate in Villa Wisteria from 14 to 29 July (two families: 4 adults and three girls 4, 6 and 12 years old). The house is very original. It has its own soul - the old, kind and welcoming Sicilian soul. All the rooms are furnished and decorated with great taste and love. Every item is in place and has its meaning and history.
Many thanks to Dario and agnes for our wonderful holiday! There was not a single question that would be left unnoticed or ignored. We got real help whether it concerned our stay in the villa or giving useful advice on planning our itinerary. One can only dream of such hospitable hosts!
The estate has a large lemon orchard. With Dario's permission we could pick fragrant lemons straight from the trees. After the lemon orchard there follows an olive grove and, further, a pine alley which gives way to a wonderful beach. It's only 200-meter walk but what a pleasant way! Little kids could walk from the beach to the house on their own. During our stay there we could see only few people on the beach.
Thanks to Dario's advice we were able to see many beautiful parts of Sicily. We fell in love with this warm and sunny island.
For breakfast we had fresh bread and croissants with different fillings and a couple of evenings, with Dario's help again, we ordered local delicious pizza. Near the house there is a pizzeria where you can enjoy Italian cuisine. Within a ten-minute walk or a five-minute drive there is a supermarket, "ARD", where you can buy any products you like; a railway station, from which you can reach the capital of Sicily - Palermo. You can visit Cefalu - a beautiful town located not far from the villa. This town has a wonderful sandy beach with very gentle entrance into the water. For small children it's a real paradise. A sufficient number of different shops can satisfy every lover of shopping.

Special thanks to their wonderful dogs that kept us safe, entertained the children and often accompanied us on our walks to the sea, miraculously distinguishing "friends" from “aliens”.

When, on returning back to Moscow, we showed the pictures taken during our vacation to our friends, all of them, without exception, wondered where we had managed to find such a paradise in Sicily nowadays.

We would like to thank Dario and Agnes for the best vacation for the last few years. We still have a vivid recollection of our stay in Sicily. Moreover, we'd like to visit this place again and next time we are going to take our friends with us.

Just one hour's drive east of Palermo, sitting serenely between its natural bay and the towering rocky granite mass of La Rocca, is Cefalù.
For a small town, Cefalù offers a great deal, including sandy beaches, winding Mediaeval streets flanked with all manner of shops, excellent restaurants serving the freshest of fish and last but probably first, its unique Norman cathedral.
An ascent of La Rocca presents quite a challenge (especially in the hot summer months) but is an absolute must: the views are spectacular, while the walls of the old Saracen stronghold and the remains of a Temple of Diana (which supposedly dates back to Sicanian-Greek times) are of no little interest.
Getting around
Directly south of Cefalù is the wonderful Madonie National Park with its charming villages and towns, such as Castelbuono, its delightful scenery, its impressive mountains and some wonderful walking.
It is no coincidence then, that after Taormina and Palermo, Cefalù is probably the most popular tourist town in Sicily, offering, as it does, something for everyone.
