Villa
Villa Patrignone has 7 large double bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a cavernous kitchen-dining room with large fireplace, and a lovely living room, with high vaulted ceilings, comfortable sofas and a library. The house was built sometime in the 1500s and still has most of its original features. Each room is tastefully furnished and has its own unique character. Every room has a beautiful view, overlooking the Jasmine Courtyard, our olive groves, or the vineyards around us, and two rooms have 'Juliet' balconies looking west towards the valley and the sunset beyond. It's centrally heated, and the wood burner gives a lovely glow (and plenty of heat) for those spring and autumnal evenings. There is plenty of outdoor space on the Terracotta Terrazza or for occasional al-fresco dining, or you can have evening drinks, meals and chats under the Olive Gazebo right outside your front door. Collect wood from the forest and build a campfire with fireflies twinkling all around you and the nightingales singing in the trees. And of course, you can use our lovely swimming pool with its amazing views. Podere Patrignone is a beautiful old 15th Century estate ('podere') which has been lovingly and tastefully restored. It is divided into six self-contained apartments or villas, all beautifully furnished in a traditional style. Patrignone sits on top of its own hill reached by a long, winding private road that ends at Patrignone. It is set in 150 acres of forest, olives and vines, with uninterrupted 360 degree views over the Tuscan valley below. It's the perfect setting for peaceful walks, sunbathing, cycling and exploring. The swimming pool with one of the best views in Tuscany. Wake up to the mists rising through the trees and the beautiful views of surrounding vineyards, or catch an amazing sunset over the towers of San Gimignano and the snow-capped Apennines on the horizon. Villa Patrignone will comfortably sleep 14 in 7 double suites (2 of the suites can have 2 single beds or 1 double bed). It has a huge kitchen (complete with a large fridge-freezer and dish-washer) and dining room with large dining table that seats 14, a large living room and library. It is filled with beautiful furniture, large comfortable beds, and the old terracotta tiles and chestnut beams are in evidence everywhere. Two of the rooms have beautiful little balconies looking west towards the valley below and the sunset beyond. Base prices shown above are for exclusive use of Villa Patrignone using only 4 of 7 bedrooms only (8 people max). Additional rooms may be added, but additional guest prices are based on 2 sharing a room. If your guest is in a room of their own, please add 2 guests to obtain the correct price. You can also rent additional apartments from us if you are planning a larger gathering. There are 5 other apartments/villas here giving you a total capacity of up to 33 people. Drop us a line and we’ll let you know what we have available. More

My family and I stayed in the "villa" at this beautiful Tuscan estate. Gorgeous views and sunsets to die for. Rosemary hedges line the property. Close in proximity to all of the wine towns along the Chiantgiana, as well as Sienna. The accommodation was charming and we loved the feeling of old Tuscany in everything from the furnishings to the beautifully hand stitched sheets on our beds. Simon and Verity were awesome to deal with before our arrival and even better in person. My grandchildren ages 10 and 5 made fast friends with their boys and I am sure will have pen pals forever,or until we return. We were sorry to go onto our next adventure, it was a teary send off for all the children. A Tuscan dream come true. Thank you, Simon, V, Max, Sam and Dawn too! Warm regards, Antoinette, Lee, Billy, Kelly, Vivian and little Billy

Our hosts, Simon and Verity, were marvels of hosting. They made sure we were comfortable and knew the ins and outs. They were hospitable without being intrusive. A true skill. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We cooked our own meals on several occasions during out ten day stay, and Verity served a delicious meal for many of the guests one evening (not gratis). Their son's were delightful and the two dogs will happily accompany you if you decide to take a long walk. The scenery is splendid with clear views of San Gimignano in the mornings. The sunsets were gorgeous. Once in particular was the most beautiful I've ever seen and lasted for almost a half hour. The farm is isolated. This prevents quick walks into town, but as compensation it provides peace and tranquility. The market in town on Saturdays is small but offers everything you will need in terms of fresh produce, meat, seafood, pasta, sauces, etc. and the sellers were extremely friendly and helpful. If you want something off the beaten track, that's relaxing and yet still within easy reach of Siena and Florence, we think you could do no better. BTW, there will be other guests and there was some wonderful socializing, but there is no need to feel compelled to join in on the patio late in the afternoon. If you want to be alone it's easy to locate a private spot.

About the neighborhood
Patrignone is right in the middle of Chianti, at the epicenter of Tuscanys cultural treasures, just 10 minutes from the beautiful hill-top town of Castellina in Chianti, with its full compliment of restaurants, cafes and shops (and a small supermarket). Siena is just 35 minutes away, and Florence 40 minutes in the other direction, San Gimignano is 30 mins away, with Volterra the next village along. You really couldnt pick a more central location.Theres no doubt that you'll need a car to get the most of Chiantis nooks and crannies, but if you feel like venturing further afield, within a 1.5-hour drive you'll find white sandy beaches, typically beautiful seaside resorts, dozens of hot springs, and the majesty of the snow-covered Apennines clearly visible from Patrignones terracotta terrace. ...
