Podere Patrignone is a beautiful old 15th Century estate ('podere') which has been lovingly and tastefully restored. Patrignone is set on top of it's own hill reached by a long, winding private road that ends at Patrignone. It is set in 150 acres of forest, olives and vines, with uninterrupted 360 degree views over the Tuscan valley. It's the perfect setting for peaceful walks, sunbathing, cycling and exploring. It has a lovely pool with one of the best vistas in Tuscany. Wake up to the mists rising through the trees and the beautiful views of surrounding vineyards, or catch an amazing sunset over the towers of San Gimignano and the snow-capped Apennines on the horizon. It is divided into 5 self-contained apartments and the Villa, all beautifully furnished in a traditional style. It is divided into 5 self-contained apartments and the Villa, all beautifully furnished in a traditional style. Location Patrignone is right in the middle of Chianti, at the epicentre of Tuscany's cultural treasures, just 10 minutes from the beautiful hill-top town of Castellina in Chianti, with its restaurants, cafés and shops. Siena is just 35 minutes away, and Florence 40 minutes in the other direction, San Gimignano is 30 mins away, with Volterra the next village along. You really couldn't pick a more central base for your exploration of Tuscany. Il Caminetto This is a lovely, bright and airy first-floor apartment. It is furnished beautifully, with a good-sized kitchen-diner complete with large relaxing sofa, large open fire with lovely fireplace (camino - hence the name) and two lovely double rooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, one with views over the neighbouring olives and forests, and the other with sunset views of the Tuscan valley as far as San Gimignano and the Apennines. You have a small terrace overlooking the central villa's court-yard, as well as full use of the large Terracotta Terrace with breathtaking sunset views across the valley towards the sparkling towers of San Gimignano the snowy peaks of Abetone. Guests often have their sunset drinks here, or take their evening meals here under the stars. The natural stone-tiled pool area is 50 metres from the house, and offers the same amazing vistas, as well as the opportunity to watch the cheeky swallows having an evening dip in the pool. If you like peace and quiet, you won't be disappointed. At night, there's nothing but the sound of the crickets. This apartments sleeps 4, but you can also rent any number of the other properties in this isolated hill-top farm to give you a maximum sleeping capacity of 33. So if you have a large gathering to plan (anniversary celebration, gathering of the clans, low-key Tuscan wedding), please get in touch. Availability The availability calendars on this site are hopefully up-to-date, but please check our website for current availability, or get in touch ans we'll let you know what we have. Google 'patrignone' and we're at the top.More

We stayed in the Il Caminetto flat for 6 nights mid-July with our two boys ages 3 and 6. We specifically chose Podere Patrignone because we thought it would be very family friendly and we weren't disappointed! The facilities were exactly what we needed, plus...More

What a lovely review! Genuinely brought a tear to my eye to hear O was so upset when you left. Hopefully, he'd completely forgotten about his tears the minute his next ice-cream came along, but if not, rest assured that you'll all be very welcome...More

About the neighborhood
Podere Patrignone is ideally placed in the very heart of Chianti Classico, almost half-way between Florence and Siena. But despite being only 30-40 minutes from either cultural heavy-weight, we are deep in the Tuscan hills, far away from any noise or light pollution. The key attractions of San Gimignano, Radda, Volterra, Monetriggioni, and Colle Val D'Elsa are all within easy reach, along with dozens of top-quality vineyards and hundreds of fabulous restaurants. We are just 10 minutes from the beautiful hill-top town of Castellina in Chianti, with its full compliment of restaurants, cafes and shops (and a small supermarket). There is no doubt that you'll need a car to get the most of Chianti's nooks and crannies, but if you feel like venturing further afield, within a 11/2 hour drive...
Getting around
You'll definitely need to rent a car for your stay in Tuscany, otherwise, you'll be limited to visiting only the busiest most touristy places. And public transport isn't great.
