In the Chianti hills between Florence and Siena, and very close to Panzano, Tuscany, Italy: in a sunny clearing, next to our own home, a converted farmhouse, the Fienile is an old barn which we have carefully restored and decorated. This is the cottage we use for visiting friends and which we are happy to rent out when it is available. So it is a genuine taste of Tuscan living, not just a holiday home rented out all year round. The cottage has its own outside area and the property is surrounded by 30 hectares of wood with plenty of open, sunny spaces. On the map we are right next to the 'a' in Chianti - so really at the heart of this delightful region, near to all the most beautiful sites! ...In the Chianti hills between Florence and Siena, and very close to Panzano, Tuscany, Italy: in a sunny clearing, next to our own home, a converted farmhouse, the Fienile is an old barn which we have carefully restored and decorated. House Rules
Pets Allowed: Yes
Smoking Allowed: No
Kid Friendly: Yes
We need our guests to know that there are quite a few stairs both inside and outside the cottage, so it might not be suitable for people with mobility problems and very small, adventurous children. Pets are allowed but we now have a dog of our own, who loves company but he is the owner here! As regards smoking, if our guests can smoke outside that will be no problem.

We spent 7 days at Leitha’s Le ripe cottage in Castellina in Chianti, which is in fact just south of Panzano, and would thoroughly recommend it as a base for enjoying the region whether lazing about the cottage or exploring the country side. We are...More

Our cottage rental was perfect for our 12-day stay. Centrally located, we explored many of the towns & villages in the area: Radda, Panzano, Castellina, Volpaia, San Gimignano, Montelcino, Montepulciano. The cottage was our home away from home. Very comfortable and very Italian. It was...More

We had a wonderful stay in this spacious Tuscan cottage set in sylvan chianti hills. It is on two levels, with the main galleried bedroom upstairs. Its ancient beams, purlins and rafters and Tuscan architecture a treat. The decor is interesting and tasteful, the kitchen...More

Thank-you so much Janine and Mark. I have to say that you were delightful guests and it was fun to compare our lifestyle with yours (not so dissimilar really!). We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Chianti misses you too! Fabio and Leitha.

A great place to stay...beautiful hill towns nearby & great places to eat. We loved staying at Le Ripe & cooking in for a couple of nights. Leitha and Fabiol are wonderful hosts! They were so gracious and offered many helpful suggestions.

About the neighborhood
Foreigners fell in love with Chianti many years ago. Its vineyards, olive groves, the rolling hills, ancient stone farmhouses and elegant villas have enchanted generations. Charming villages, wineries, good food abound while the riches of Florence and Siena and their renaissance and medieval treasures are only a short drive away.
Getting around
A car is essential for most touring, but if you prefer a rest from driving and finding parking, there is a handy bus in to Florence (and even to Siena) which can be caught from Panzano or Radda.
