Arcadia is set within the beautiful villa of Casa Biozzi. The property dates back to the 17th century and the current owner recently had the building renovated, maintaining the original layout, restoring the antique furniture, and dusting off any old curios that could summon up echoes of the past. The building has been divided into three units: the piano nobile has been kept for the family, while the second and third floors (third and fourth, to Americans) have respectively been turned into two finely-furnished apartments and two laundry rooms for the use of guests.

SPECIAL PACKAGES FOR DECEMBER 2009 - please inquire!

The apartment has a spacious living-room with a kitchenette and two windows overlooking the surrounding rooftops of the ancient village. The furnishings are 17th-century family antiques.

First let me say that I would have no hesitation in recommending Casa Biozzi to anyone looking for quality accommodation in this part of Italy. The property itself is an old town house that has been restored to a very high standard. It is set in the centre of town on a street that has been converted to a pedestrian precinct. (There is vehicle access to the rear of the property to drop off and pick up luggage.) Acadia Apartment overlooks the town and is well appointed, elegantly furnished and very clean. The pedestrian precinct adds to the appeal of the location with restaurants, cafes and a few shops within a short stroll of the front door. Further shops, restaurants and cafes are available in San Piero in Bagno a couple of kilometres up the road. Upon our arrival we received a very warm welcome from Patrizia Biozzi, the owner of the property, and she was most helpful in arranging parking for our car, booking restaurants and providing useful information on the town and the...

About the neighborhood
The first information on Pieve di Bagno dates back to 871 AC. After the domination of the Count Guidi family from the end of XI century up to 1404, and the short parenthesis under the Gambacorti family, Val di Bagno passed under the control of the Florentines who founded the “Capitanato ". Over the years the Florentine influence has been very strong and in the territory of Bagno there is much evidence of these bonds such as, for instance, the magnificient XIV century Palazzo dei. Capitani. During the XV century the Baths of S.Maria in Bagno drew illustrious personalities, such as Benvenuto Cellini, Giuliano and Giovanni De’ Medici. Bagno di Romagna remained part of “Tuscan Romagna” (province of Florence) until 1923, when it was returned to the province of Forlì.

Bag... more
