The Old Surgery is a ground floor single storey annexe to New Place which is an architecturally designed house with surgery built for the village doctor in the 1950s. Since the doctor retired in the early 80s the surgery rooms remained untouched until recent renovation and even had a stethoscope still hanging on the back of the treatment room door. The accommodation has gas central heating throughout and consists of lounge/diner with sofa bed, kitchen, wetroom shower with wc, double bedroom, utility room with wc and washing machine. The price quoted for two guests assumes that only one bed is required. If the second bed is needed there would be a charge of £15 per stay for this additional service payable on arrival. We do not accept cats (or any other pets).
If you want a lovely restful cottage then this is the place to stay. Beautiful clean and welcoming. The owners have thought of everything. Very dog friendly and safe. Nearby all the local shops, bus stop, train station and ferry. The owners are on hand if you need to know anything and also information leaflets with things to do on hand. The weather was beautiful and the beaches are less than 20 minutes away by car. It really is a lovely place to stay and we will definitely be re-booking again!!

The old surgery
This place is ideal for a few nights in a quiet peaceful place but close enough to visit other resorts.
Starcross itself is lovely village there’s lovely pubs within walking distance, the railway line and Powderham castle and farm shop and restaurant which we walked the dog to.. everywhere seemed to be dog friendly so no worries there.
The apartment is small but has all you need and a lovely garden area and is very clean.
Would def rebook.

cosy, relaxing, superb location ,wife loved it before we stepped in the door, we will revisit next year thank you roz and keith for a superb break

The Old Surgery enjoys a quiet location on the fringe of the village and is further protected by a 3 acre paddock surrounding the house and garden. There is a network of paths and quiet country lanes leading to the west or level walks around the village and towards the Exe estuary and National Cycle Network or to link up with the local bus route or mainline railway station or passenger ferry to Exmouth.
The Powderham Castle and estate grounds are just a 15 - 20 minute walk either across footpaths and country lanes or via the main road.
