These fabulous apartments, with stunning views across the Exe estuary (Portland has limited views), were once the home of Captain George Peacock (1805- 1883) who surveyed the Panama canal, and invented the first workable screw propeller, and many maritime items. The rail service goes through Exeter and on to Exmouth; going the other direction, the Riviera Line passes Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay and Paignton, where you can transfer to a steam line to Dartmouth; daytrips by train to Plymouth are popular and affordable. The fine beach and nature reserve at Dawlish Warren are 2 miles from the property, whilst sightseeing and shopping in the cathedral city of Exeter are 7 miles. The surrounding countryside is particularly good for walking and cycling – nearby Haldon Forest is criss-crossed with trails and there is even a cycle track to Exeter, and on to Exmouth, from Regent House itself, the No 2 Exe trail cycleway – and the Exe estuary is great for sailing, windsurfing and all manner of water sports, with tuition for all levels of ability. Powderham Castle is within walking distance, visit the castle, farm shop, and Orangery Restaurant, and check out the events held there including classic car rallies, food fayres and pop concerts. Golf courses are also close by. The floating restaurant in the river Exe (Cafe on the Exe) is well worth a visit, booking advisable. Guided bird watching cruises are available, river cruises run all year and Jurassic Coast cruises in summer. Some of Devon’s famed resorts – Budleigh Salterton, Seaton and Sidmouth as well as the ‘English Riviera’ resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham – and Dartmoor National Park’s rugged beauty are a little further afield. Shops and 2 pubs serving food are within the village, whilst at Cockwood, a 15 minute walk away, the Anchor Inn and Ship Inn also provide quality food and real ales. Stairs to entrance. All on first floor: Living room with double sofa bed/dining area. Kitchen. 2 double bedrooms, one (5ft) with en-suite shower room (no toilet), one with additional bunk (for alternative sleeping only). Bathroom with toilet. Separate toilet. Gas central heating and electricity included. DVD. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Freezer. Small decked area and furniture. Electric barbecue. Parking (2 cars). All properties: Bed linen and towels included. Cot. Freeview TV. CD. Microwave. Wi-fi. No smoking. More
