Own private sun-drenched terrace with large wooden garden table and chairs, traditional BBQ with chimney and two wooden loungers. Four hammocks are also provided, hung between trees in the shade near the river and adjacent to the riverside canopy-covered dining area with pit barbeque. Spectacular views everywhere. Free WiFi internet access. Outdoor table tennis and badminton provided. Our own seasonal organic produce is available (depending upon demand) and, should you require it, local suppliers deliver to your door bread, cheese, fish, fruit and vegetables. We have an extensive English language DVD collection available and provide chess/draughts, Monopoly, Scrabble and Boules. There is also a collection of English language novels for your use. We have enough travel guides and maps in both English and Italian to help anyone to be able to plan their holiday here, plus we are always on-hand to help. 'Casa del Fiume' is owned and managed by an artist/designer and the interior walls display original works of contemporary art. At an additional cost we provide individually-tailored tuition in Art and Italian. We can also provide an English/Italian speaking chef to cook you a meal or give you lessons - even on a trabocco. We can organise a day-trip on a yacht along the Trabocco Coast except in August. As members of Majella Trekking club we can organise guided or self-guided hikes in the Majella National Park. We also organise wine tastings with an award-winning organic vineyard as well as truffle tastings with a local specialist - even organise a truffle hunt if required. We have been featured in Italia! magazine and also on UK TV programmes 'Compare Your Life' and 'A Place in the Sun' and the Italian TV channel AbruzzoLive. We are founders of the 'Save River Aventino' campaign.More

Interaction with guests
We live on-site and we offer our guests an exceptional concierge service, as you can see in most of the reviews. We moved to Abruzzo in 2006 and have been living here since March 2007. Guests can benefit from our experience of living here since we help tailor their stay with us according to their needs. However if you do not want our help, that is fine too since we have all the guide books and maps that you will need for you to plan your stay here.

About the neighborhood
The location of 'Casa del Fiume' is ideal for exploring the many small mediaeval towns of this region, walking in the Majella mountains, basking on empty beaches of the 'Trabocchi Coast' and swimming in the warm Adriatic sea (40 min drive), downhill skiing / snowboarding on the empty slopes at the ski resort of Roccaraso (40 min drive), cross-country skiing on 30 Kms of runs through beech woods at Bosco di Sant’Antonio (30 min drive), or merely relax with a book on a lounger with your feet dangling in the cooling water of the Aventino river (2 min walk to the bottom of our garden - private access). Civitella Messer Raimondo. This is the nearest town, a mediaeval village perched on top of a hill at the foot of the Majella overlooking Fara San Martino. Amenities include small general store...
Getting around
You will have a better experience if you have your own transport. However we are on a good road (SS86) located between Casoli and Lama dei Peligni. There is a daily bus that goes to Lanciano via Casoli that is used by school kids that passes here between 07.15 and 07.45 returning around 13.30/13.45. On a Wednesday there is a very small market in Civitella M.R. and the local school bus is used to ferry people to the market at a small cost.
