Interaction with guests
ABOUT US We are a young-at-heart retired professional couple who love the outdoor life in sunny S.W. France. We bought our retreat here in the Dordogne 10 years ago and have enjoyed renovating it, but now it is finished we wish to share it with you. Our spacious stone, character cottage sits in two acres of beautiful landscaped gardens with a large separate vegetable patch and hen run. As well as enjoying and developing the gardens, we love walking with our two rescue dogs in the neighbouring forest and indulging in our hobbies. Graham enjoys his archery, and Alison enjoys her cooking, with our organic eggs, vegetables and fruit, as well as spinning, felting and knitting. We live in a separate part of the property and are always available f

About the neighborhood
NEIGHBOURHOOD
The immediate neighbourhood is quiet and private, 100m from a forest, perfect for walks. Our village (1km) has a boulangerie, bar and post office. We are 7km from Jumilhac-Le-Grand, the main feature of which is a spectacular, fairy-tale château which offers guided tours. As the area was previously famous for gold panning, there is a gold museum also as well as a Sunday market.
Getting around
We are 40km from Limoges airport (for car hire) and 50km from the Roman city of Périgueux. La Coquille, 3km away has a supermarket with fuel, a bank and quality restaurants and a station which provides access to France’s extensive rail network. Other towns nearby; Thiviers, Vaunac and Saint Yrieix-La-Perche have quality restaurants, bustling bars, cinema

How to get there
Airport: Limoges: 24.9 mi
Railway: La Coquille: 1.9 mi
Ferry: Ouistreham: 326.2 mi
The route nationale, N21, runs south from Limoges to Perigueux. Limoges has the nearest airport to us (Bellegarde) which receives regular Ryanair flights from many UK airports and other international airports.
Reasonably priced car hire is available at the airport, which is about 45 minutes away from us. Coming by road, you follow the N21 S and at the small town of La Coquille you turn L at the only set of traffic lights, towards Jumilhac Le Grand / Saint Priest-Les-Fougeres. Go straight through Saint Priest-Les-Fougeres, and 1km after the cemetery, there is a triangular cross road sign. This signifies our turn. So after only 25m or so take the small track uphill on the right. We re 100m at the end of this track with large black gates. Just walk right in and we can sort out the car afterwa...
