Stunning location this 2-storey lake house is located right on the lakefront reserve at Lake Hawea. An amazing fresh water lake with crystal clear water and majestic mountain views. Waitoa has lots of room, great open plan living/dining/kitchen, 4 spacious bedrooms. Sliding doors open out on to large tree top balcony with recliners, outdoor table and bbq. . Very sunny and sheltered, great for entertaining. 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms downstairs. Bathrooms on each floor. Garden paths lead to lakefront for swimming, boating and fishing. Fantastic bike/walking tracks along the lakefront and river. Sky TV, Wifi, pingpong, american football, board games, magazines. Tennis courts nearby. Waitoa is is very private, a hidden gem. Only 15 minutes from Wanaka and 1 hour from Queenst...

Stunnuing Views
We were in New Zealand to celebrate the 80th birthday of a sister/ sister in law in the Christchurch area. Family had travelled from Northern Ireland and Canada and we thought it would be a great opportunity to do a little sight seeing. We chose Lake Hawea as it was close to the Queenstown and Wanaka area and none of the group had been to that area. We're so glad we did.
Sarah's home is located on Lake Hawea with spectacular views and lovely walks. It is very private with access from the property to the lake shore. We were able to discover much of the area with day trips to the Blue Pools, the many beautiful waterfalls, mountain passes, etc. The house was very spacious, extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed coming back to the house each evening to sit down to a meal with family. For us, it was an ideal location, since it was much quieter than other places in the area (Queenstown and Wanaka both being very busy). It was very relaxing sitting on the huge deck watching the little fantails while enjoying the beautiful views. Sarah, thank you so much for allowing us to share your beautiful home.

Such gorgeous guests. Thank you for coming to stay. We are so glad you had a wonderful stay in such a beautiful part of the world. Waitoa is such a great base away from the hustle and bustle. And what a fun group. We loved meeting you all albeit too brief.

Beautiful spot
We had a lovely holiday in Lake Hawea - right on the waterfront with a short bush walk to the waters edge. The accommodation was very family friendly and fitted a large group with ease.

Thank you for your lovely review. So great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Waitoa - Holiday House. It is such as great location and away from the hustle and bustle but so close to the action only being 15 minutes from Wanaka and 1.5 hours from Queenstown.

Fabulous views and comfy spacious house
We had a wonderful extended family holiday staying at Waitoa Holiday House over Christmas 2015. The view over the lake and mountains is gorgeous. One evening we were all transfixed by the moon rising above the mountains. The lakefront is just down at the bottom of the garden. There are lots of beautiful walks nearby around Lake Hawea, and it is also very easy with a car to get to walks around Wanaka - we had a lovely time on the Diamond Lake Walk and Rob Roy Glacier Walk. There was plenty of space for everyone in the house, lots of beds. It was lovely to return to the house after a day out exploring the area. The house and kitchen were well equipped with everything we needed. Great open plan living area with big comfy sofas, lovely big table. Booking the house was very easy. The owner was very prompt and helpful in responding to all our queries.

Absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend
After a long drive we opened the lounge curtains and WOW what a view!
Large veranda deck from the lounge means even on a really hot day you get air inside. Good quality bbq and solid furniture and loads of pans, crockery, glasses etc.
We had a baby and two very well behaved dogs and four adults. We didn't even use one bedroom. The downstairs veranda is shaded and ideal for dogs and the downstairs bedrooms cooler for a baby.
Having a washer and dishwasher was also great and the inside and outside tables meant there was plenty of room when relatives called around.
Walks, cycling, lake at the bottom of the lovely mature garden.

Comfort and beauty at its best!
This large home rental is located in a premium area and directly on Lake Hawea. The views of the lake are spectacular from the large deck, just off of the living room. The sliding living room doors open up to the deck and on a nice day brings the outside in. Basically and extension to the room. The deck has a Propane BBQ and we could dine in privacy all while enjoying the views.. The kitchen is very well stocked with just about every appliance one could imagine. .
If you choose to eat out or need basic grocery items there is a general Store, Post Office, Restaurant, Cafe and Pub with in a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the house. The next town, Wanaka /Lake Wanaka is about a 10 minute drive away and has lots of restaurant options, shops, banks and two
large grocery stores.
This house is immaculate, and the beds and and down linens very comfortable. Lots of walking/ biking trails ( tracks) directly accessible from this location which boarder the lake.
Home away from home but better.

About the neighborhood
Waitoa is located on the lakefront of Lake Hawea. 15 minutes from Wanaka and 1 hour from Queenstown. You can fly into Queenstown or Christchurch. Christchurch to Lake Hawea is a 5 hour drive but fantastic drive through the Lindis. Great scenery. Waitoa is 1.5 hours from the West Coast (Haast).
Lake Hawea is a small town with a Pub/Hotel that serves great meals. It also has a small shop with everything you need and a lovely restaurant, Sailz. Both the hotel and Sailz have great views of the lake and a courtesy bus to pick you up and drop you home,
Lake Hawea Holiday Park is also close by and has bike hire available. They also have a summer shop and tour desk to book tours and daytrips available. There are great bike/walking tracks on the doorstep. You can ride all the way along the lakefront or along the river track all the way to Wanaka. There is a world class kayak course on the Lake Hawea River and Lake Hawea lake is great from swimming, boating and fishing. There are trout and salmon in the Lake. The lake is crystal clear - surrounded by stunning mountains.
Tennis courts, bowls and a golf course are nearby plus a great community center with a library.
