Having travelled extensively around the world for the last 60 years it is rare that I award 5 stars to any property but this first class (NOT de luxe) apartment ticks all the boxes. Booking Procedure is seamless. A 10 page information pack accompanied the confirmation by e-mail. Location is superb right by the Elvet Bridge. Check in worked perfectly as the host met us on arrival and showed us to our reserved parking space. He then took us to the apartment and explained all of the facilities in detail. (There is an extensive information book permanently left in the apartment) Delightful lounge and fully equipped kitchen. One good double bedroom and one slightly smaller room. Two bathrooms. One has a superb hi-tec shower, - the other has a hot tub bath. I would not think of staying anywhere else if I return to Durham. If I had to find a fault it would be the television which is so hi-tec it was beyond the capabilites of an old duffer like me.

Moonlight Apartment is a well furnished, comfortable apartment very close to the city centre with its cathedral, castle, river, shops and restaurants. The railway station isn’t far either. There is also underground parking. Perfect for a stay in Durham. We also took the train up to Edinburgh from Durham for a couple of days there.

The apartment is very centrally located and we'll equipped. We really enjoyed our stay. There are two things to be aware of. Firstly as the Elvet bridge is closed ther e is only one way to approach the flat without a massive diversion. This is for at least the next month. Secondly the flat has parking...great in the city. But the entry to the parking is over a large metal bar. If you have a low sprung car this will be a big problem. If you have a 4x4 you will struggle to fit in your allocated space !!

Met by Sharon, who showed us to our apartment which was exactly as described. Decor is superb and both the secure car park and lift from same are a bonus, especially considering my wife's health requirements. Both bedrooms are ideal with TVs in both. Lounge also has its own TV and sound system. The kitchen is well appointed, ie ideal should you wish to cook? The city is literally just round the corner, with both bars and restaurants aplenty. The only problem being, due to Moonlight's popularity, we couldn't book for longer. However, that means we have to come back!

This charming apartment in the centre of Durham is an excellent place to stay for a short city visit. The flat is comfortable, clean and well equipped. Plenty of space for four people to stay. The beds were really comfortable ( which in my experience is quite rare) and it provides so many extras for entertainment and self catering purposes. Ray the host is very friendly, accommodating and the extras are very generous and thoughtful. It is a stones throw from the river and a multitude of stylish eateries and pubs. Excellent apartment in a very convenient location for visiting sights. just a few minutes by foot and you are at the Cathedral, the Castle, lots of restaurants etc. Parking was secure and without any problem. Loved the nice touches of the host, like fresh flowers, crisps, chocolate and a bottle of wine (which we left untouched, because we don't drink). Everything was spot on, no flaws whatsoever. Of course slightly on the pricey side for two guests, but we intended to actually travel with four, which in the end did not happen. Highly recommendable.

I hate to write such a negative review but we were exceptionally disappointed with our stay at the Moonlight Apartment. The worst factor of the stay was how dirty the apartment was, this is bad enough at any time but during a global pandemic it really isn’t good enough. This apartment is not as described; it is not luxurious nor boutique. We had our 5 month old baby with us and had we not needed to settle him down I would not have stayed here but I would have found alternative accommodation. I will begin with the positive points: providing snacks and milk is a help when on the road. The towels were nice. The location is fantastic and we booked because of this and the car parking space. The size of the apartment is great and the large windows were lovely to look out of. The negatives: as mentioned, the place really was filthy. I first noticed that inside the fridge was dirty as well as needing to be defrosted; the fridge was also not very cold. Then I noticed that the cooker hood was thick with grease and all the kitchen handles were clearly never washed as they had dirty finger marks everywhere. We cleaned the draining board and oven glove which were both disgusting. There was dust on most surfaces. The bath had several hairs, the bathroom windowsill was dirty, there is a clock above the toilet which was thick with dust. The shower was covered in water stains as was the picture next to the sink. We had to cleanse all touch points such as handles and taps. The description says the kitchen is new and ‘second to none’. The kitchen is neither new nor second to none. I know that decoration is subjective, but the décor and furnishing in this apartment are eccentric at best. It was not comfortable and was not somewhere we wanted to spend any time. Despite providing additional extras, it would have been helpful if the host provided a cot for families. This would have been much more helpful than the electronic curtains. We had to bring the travel cot for this apartment but most other places are happy to provide this. It was difficult for me to open the windows. We arrived on a hot day and all the windows were closed, despite the recommendation of airing properties to reduce the risk of covid-19 infection. The bed is not art deco inspired, the only similarity with art deco is that the bed is very old. It was uncomfortable and very creaky. I am sorry to say that we did not enjoy our stay and I hope that some improvements will be made to make the accommodation better for others in the future. It is not too much to ask that accommodation be clean.

Recently spent a few nights here, and what a wonderful experience. We were greeted by our host,Ray, and he immediately made us feel at home, with a warm welcome, guided us to the allocated,secure parking space, and explained everything we needed to know about the apartment. The apartment was spotless, and extremely well appointed, with the added bonus of lots of little goodies. The location was perfect for exploring Durham, a ten minute walk to the cathedral, on the opposite bank of the river. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to return. .

Ray's communication before the stay was excellent and he was very understanding when our train was late, delaying arrival. Breakfast supplies and snacks were very welcome. Apartment was as per (if not better and a little larger) than photos and in perfect condition. Very comfortable for our one night stay. Only 15 to 20 mins walk from train station with all of Durham centre a short stroll away. Cannot fault it and will recommend to friends.

Lovely apartment in a fabulous position, with the convenience of underground parking. The only problem was we were asked to pay cash £500 which we did and then our credit card was debited for the amount. Luckily it was rectified in a couple of days but it was a concern at the time.
