Little Gem - uninterruptable front line sea views positioned only 30 meters from sea and overlooking Portland Harbour the 2012 Olympic venue, and the remains of Sandsfoot castle. Off road dedicated parking within property boundary. Quite and tranquil location and only a 2 min walk to private sandy beaches and a 15 min walk to the historic Weymouth harbour and shopping centres. Access to the old railway line trail known as the 'Rodwell trail' is a stones throw away.
Spacious accommodation for a relaxing self catering holiday, finished and furnished to a high standard with solid oak floors and doors throughout. Its prime location provides an excellent base for sun worshipers, bathers, boaters, divers, walkers, fishers, bird watchers or general sightseers just wanting to watch the boating wo...

A most convenient comfortable well appointed holiday apartment
We so enjoyed our stay in the Little Gem looking out across Weymouth bay towards the Isle of Portland.
The kitchen and bedroom are well set out and comfortable and we were pleased with the heating system.
The location is perfect for exploring the town of Weymouth and the Isle of Portland and we did short drives to explore Lulworth Cove,Durdle Door and the magnificent coastal scenery of Dorset.
The village of Abbotsbury and the nearby town of Dorchester gave us splendid days out .
The owners were friendly and helpful.
We appreciated the quiet ,peaceful area near the end of street with no through traffic.
We would definitely recommend the Little Gem to our friends.

Fabulous
Clean and perfectly kitted out. Great property, great location, great views. If you want to walk a bit, this is for you. Not in the town centre, but a lovely coastal walk gets you there in 30 minutes and worth every minute. If you decide to visit one of the many bars, a £4 taxi fare will deliver you home again - definitely worth it. Can't wait to get back there!

Lovely
Enjoyed a weeks stay in this lovely comfortable modernised property which is suitable for couples only.
Views wonderful & a beautiful garden to sit out in when the weather good.
Situated away from town center, but on a quiet street with parking space.
Highly recommend as a base for sight seeing this lovely part of England.

Photographs do not do justice to the whole experience!
We booked a late break for a change of scene after my husband's heart surgery. What a find! It was everything we could have wished for. Peace,quiet, wonderful views and comfortable accommodation. I just wish we could have taken the opportunity to go on some of the walks from Little Gem, but maybe next time once full recovery achieved. It was great to be able to watch all the bustle of the new boating year! Looking forward to a return visit soon.
Parking space a bonus - is the top flat also a letting? If so, this could be an issue when the busier time comes.
All in all, aptly named property!

Little Gem lived upto it's name.
We spent a week at Little Gem and enjoyed every moment of it. Every detail of the property was thoroughly thought out and to relax on the patio with a drink in hand and soaking up the views was amazing. Gratefully received was the welcome basket of mini boxes of breakfast cereal, loaf of bread, preserves, hot chocolate sachets and fresh milk in the fridge, a very kind thought and touch.
Having the Rodwell trail on your doorstep was brilliant and we used it daily to get to Weymouth town and the beautiful Chesil Beach.
We will definitely visit again. Thankyou.

Tolle Wohnung mit Blick aufs Meer und schönem Garten
Sehr schöne, geschmackvoll eingerichtete Wohnung im Erdgeschoss eines Doppelhauses mit einem tollen Blick aufs Meer vom Wohnraum und der Terasse.
Die Fotos geben eine wirkliche Darstellung der Wohnung wieder. Auch der Garten ist wirklich schön angelegt und sehr gepflegt. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung sehr liebevoll und weitestgehend praktisch.
Die Lage der Wohnung ist etwas außerhalb und ruhig, doch das Zentrum ist mit einem schönen Fußweg entlang der ehemaligen Gleisanlagen innerhalb einer halben Stunde gut zu erreichen.
Für passionierte Kaffeetrinker steht allerdings nur eine Frenchpress zur Verfügung;-)
Ansonsten gab es aus unserer Sicht an der Ausstattung wirklich nichts auszusetzen und wir können die Wohnung vorbehaltlos weiterempfehlen.

Highly Recommended
This lovely apartment is the perfect base for exploring the area or just relaxing and enjoying the wonderful view. The photographs don't really do it justice. It has been very carefully thought out and furnished, is comfortable, clean and modern and has a lovely garden and seating areas. The bed is the most comfortable one we have ever slept in away from home. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook simple meals and for those that don't wish to cook it's only a pleasant 20 minute walk into Hope Square where there are several good places to eat. We highly recommend it and hope to stay in Little Gem again.

Amazing
Perfect location, only 15 min walk from town and little beach meters away. Beautiful views and a rediculously comfortable bed. The welcome package and little extras like provoding milk was a cherry on top. fantastic!

This really is a little (amazing) gem
A beautiful place for two in an incredible location if you enjoy running, walking, cycling along coastal paths or just taking in the beauty of the coast line and enjoying some of the freshest fish ever. Little Gem is located at Castle Cove on the Rodwell trail and South-West part of the Coastal Path. It is clean, really well equipped and with a beautiful garden that has fantastic sea views. It is well located for great restaurants and public transport to explore the Dorset coast and country side further a field. We could not fault this place at all.

Excellent accommodation with lovely views
Little Gem is a very clean, well equipped apartment. It has a lovely garden with views across Portland Harbour. It takes fifteen minutes to walk into the centre of Weymouth and is a short walk to Chesil beach. We would highly recommend Little Gem.

About the neighborhood
Dorset's beautiful and dramatic scenery has long made the county a favourite with writers, poets and film crews. Jurassic cliffs plunge alongside picturesque harbour towns and coastal resorts, providing an impressive backdrop for the many popular Dorset holiday destinations. <BR><BR>Sandsfoot castle that you can see from 'Little Gem' was primarily built as a decoy in 1539 by Henry VIII, another castle built during the same period, mirrors Sandsfoot and lies at sea level to the opposite side of the bay on Portland. Portland castle is not easily visible from the sea and its intention was to provide a surprise attack on the Spanish fleet during invasion. It is believed that neither castle came under attack, and never actually got to use their weapons.<BR><BR>Tours of Thomas Hardy's Dorset are operated from Weymouth. Sea Life Centre and a new rotating viewing tower found in town centre, Abbotsbury Swannery, Monkey World, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are just a short drive away. Weymouth Carnival takes place in mid August. <BR><BR>
Getting around
Local bus stop into town just 5 min walk located at top of Old Castle Road then 5 minutes into town centre. Also Jurassic coast bus goes from Poole to Exeter and stops in Weymouth every hour bus number X53. An excellent way to see the Jurassic coastline stopping off at most seaside resorts along the way.

Weymouth train station is approx 25 min walk or 5 min by taxi. Easily accessed via A35 main road from Dorchester. Bournemouth International airport 40 min drive. Local bus stops can be found at top of Old Castle Road approximately 5-7min walk from Little Gem.
