LITTLE GEM IS A LITTLE GEM
We have just come back from staying at this property. Wow, lovely apartment with views, immaculate. Nice patio to sit out on and run of the garden. Plenty of lovely walks with Rodwell trail right on the doorstep, you can walk from Weymouth to Portland along this trail. Lovely gardens 50 yards award with a small cafe selling, drinks, pasties, cakes and ice cream. Jon and Linda were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Have no problem in recommending this apartment.

Still Fabulous
Immaculately clean, modern, bright, with all the facilities and a lovely comfy bed to sleep in after a hard day Jurassic coast walking. Plenty of near bye sight seeing to be done, we especially enjoyed the Abbotsbury Tropical Garden. The apartment also has a cracking patio and lovely garden with sea views. Perfect to relax in with a glass or two of wine. A great location and consequently a great base to explore from. I first stayed in 2010 and the apartment just gets better and better.

Great for sailing events
Originally booked Little Gem for its proximity to Castle Cove SC, however we were really pleased to open the door to a top quality home for the week. It was very clean and well equipped providing a great base for the beach and sailing club access. It included a beautiful garden with BBQ/outside oven and decking area with a lovely sea view. Our favourite item was the outside shower accessed without walking through the property, perfect for a day on the beach or sailing. The hosts were very accessible and helpful. We appreciated the little touches like leaving choccy biscuits, play station with games and the offer to use the off street parking. Excellent choice for sailing club events or exploring the local beach, Chesil or short walk into Weymouth. The host were easily accessible and very helpful… recommended !

Little Gem
Lovely property Very comfortable Well equipped Super garden with lovely view The only drawback is that if you can't walk very far, it is a bit of a distance from the town centre and parking there is difficult.

Like the name Little Gem is a GEM!!
Having decided to try and book a holiday in the UK, not having done it for some time where do you start? After looking at lots of accommodation in the West it was by pure luck the Little Gem was found. Upon checking it out on the internet it look just what we were looking for, with some trepidation it was booked. We considered if it was half as good as our expectation we would be happy. Well our expectation was thankfully exceeded!!! as was Weymouth, what a great place to stay, with great restraunts. I happily recommend both Weymouth and especially the Little Gem. If we go back to Weymouth it is the only place I want to stay.

A little gem it was.
Superb apartment, clean and well kept with every thing you need. Lovely views from the veranda of Portland Bill. Ideally situated just a 15 min. walk into Weymouth down the old railway line. Would definitely recommend.

What it says on the tin!
The property is called Little Gem - and it certainly is just that! Everything you need along with a lovely sea view and short walk down the hill to the nearest beach. Love the area - the walks and little coves along the coast. Hosts are welcoming and friendly- on hand if you need anything. Weather not perfect - but this is Britain 😎

Perfect location for a seaside getaway
This little apartment was in a perfect location to enjoy the countryside and walks as well as the town and the beach. Everything was within walking distance. We particularly enjoyed the Rodwell Trail. It was peaceful and scenic. The apartment was lovely with so many little additions that made the stay so much more enjoyable. The owners had thought of everything and were very welcoming on arrival. To be able to park the car directly outside the property was ideal as the road outside could get quite parked up so I think we would have struggled sometimes if the parking hadn't been a part of the package. Thank you to the owners for a very special apartment and holiday.

Perfect
Excellent location, coves close by and easy walks into Weymouth. Lovely decorated and furnished apartment. The private garden is a pure delight. You will never tire of the views from the decking over to Portland. The shaded area at the bottom is wonderful to sit in early evening. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I could not fault a thing. A fantastic place to stay.

Map
About the neighborhood
Dorset's beautiful and dramatic scenery has long made the county a favourite with writers, poets and film crews. Jurassic cliffs plunge alongside picturesque harbour towns and coastal resorts, providing an impressive backdrop for the many popular Dorset holiday destinations. Sandsfoot castle that you can see from 'Little Gem' was primarily built as a decoy in 1539 by Henry VIII, another castle built during the same period, mirrors Sandsfoot and lies at sea level to the opposite side of the bay on Portland. Portland castle is not easily visible from the sea and its intention was to provide a surprise attack on the Spanish fleet during invasion. It is believed that neither castle came under attack, and never actually got to use their weapons. Tours of Thomas Hardy's Dorset are operated from Weymouth. Sea Life Centre and a new rotating viewing tower found in town centre, Abbotsbury Swannery, Monkey World, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are just a short drive away. Weymouth Carnival takes place in mid August.
Getting around
Local bus stop into town just 5 min walk located at top of Old Castle Road then 5 minutes into town centre. Also Jurassic coast bus goes from Poole to Exeter and stops in Weymouth every hour bus number X53. An excellent way to see the Jurassic coastline stopping off at most seaside resorts along the way.
