The New Forest lies to the west of Southampton Water in south-west Hampshire and covers 37,677 hectares. Centuries of human management and livestock grazing have meant that the forest is a combination of heathland, ancient woodland, wetlands and grassy plains, with many inclosures of both coniferous and deciduous woodland. The commoners' ponies and cattle roam freely across the forest, controlling and shaping the vegetation as they graze.
'New Forest', or 'Nova Foresta', was created by William the Conqueror as a royal hunting ground, and forest laws were enforced to protect the hunted animals and their habitats. At junction 1, take sliproad left towards The NEW FOREST / Lyndhurst at first roundabout take 1st exit onto A 336 at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto A337/Lyndhurst Road. Travel approximately 5.5km and turn left at traffic light onto A35 High Street then turn right onto A35/Gosport Lane get into left hand lane to stay on Gosport Lane. Travel approximately 11 km then at the roundabout take 2nd exit and travel for another 1.4 km then turn right into Queen Elizabeth Avenue. Continue to end of Queen Elizabeth Avenue and the property is right opposite you on Western Road.
