The Old National School, Dartmoor National Park

Rental Home -
3 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
Tavistock, Dartmoor National Park, Devon, England
The Old National School is a Grade II listed building nestled in a beautiful hamlet within Dartmoor National Park. Situated on the Moor, guests can walk straight from the door to explore the surrounding area, but conveniently, the market town of Tavistock with its shops and markets is only a 10 minute drive away.

The house has lots of character, spacious rooms, an amazing open plan kitchen/dining room, open fires/wood burner, and bedroom 2 is on a mezzanine above the kitchen/dining area. It is great for a cosy couples get away or for socialising with friends.

The bedroom with the super king bed can be set up as twin beds instead if preferred.

The location is remote and hidden away down a short lane. An old converted school house with the Manor House approximately 100 mtrs to the front right and a church with very old residents who kept themselves to themselves thankfully. Bit of a tight turn...More

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Old National School, inside the school the interior was beautifully restored, with a sympathetic eye for the original building. Lovely modern kitchen with everything you need, a pretty courtyard outside. Upstairs mezzanine with large bedroom, and...More

About the neighborhood
The house is on the Moor, yet just a convenient 10 minute drive from the market town of Tavistock. You can walk directly from the door, straight up onto the Moor. The house is nestled in the small hamlet of Sampford Spiney, sitting between the ancient Manor House and Church.
Getting around
It is best to have a car. There are no buses from the hamlet, the nearest town of Tavistock does have bus services to Plymouth and Exeter.

Cycling on Dartmoor is quite challenging because of the many hills, but if you are fit and enthusiastic, the cycling is amazing. You are not allowed to cycle off road across the moor, only on roads and designated tracks.
