This 17th century holiday cottage provides a comfortable place to stay in the historic Market Town of Buxton with many varied events taking place throughout the year including the Buxton Festival and many others. Smithy's Cottage is situated on an 'Access only' street just off the High Street. It is a quiet back water just a few metres from the 'Town Trail'. Only a short walk to the Market Place, Museum Art Gallery, Pavilion Gardens, Opera House and main shopping area where there are plenty of restaurants, pubs and takeaways to choose from. Close by is Poole's Cavern and Solomon's Temple situated in Grin Low Country Park. We found ‘Smithy’s Cottage’ to be a perfect holiday let. Unlike so may other lets we have stayed in it was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and with no sign of the damp mustiness we have so often encounter. The accommodation is more like someone’s...More

Second time I've stayed here. Really close to the market square which has a few convenience stores on it, and a short walk from Buxton Park, Opera house etc. It's a nice home away from home.

Thanks for your review. Pleased you enjoyed your stay. You never run out of food or drink in Buxton. We are within easy walking to all you need whether it be eating in or eating out. The choice is wide and to suit all pockets.

What a beautiful cottage, so much character, very central and providing all we could need for our stay. There wasn't anything we found that could have improved this property, the owners had thought of everything. We had unseasonably cold weather for the end of April...More

Buxton is well served by public transport links from Manchester, Derby, Sheffield and Nottingham for those who do not want to use their car.

By Bus:- The main bus stops only 250m from the cottage which apart using to get to Buxton also gives easy access to explore all parts of the Peak District - check out the links on the left hand column for local and national bus services.

By Train:- The railway station is about a half mile from the cottage - a taxi to the cottage from the station costs around £5 - just ask for 'Smithys Cottage on Church Street'.

By Car:- If you do use your own car or one hired from an airport we have easy and private off-road parking next to the cottage.
