Stayed here for a long weekend. Cottage was lovely, everything we needed. Walking distance to everything in Dunkeld. Food in Perth Arms was lovely and staff very friendly and welcoming. Had a good night in British Legion, again everyone very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely visit Glen Carra again.

We had a lovely time staying at Glen Carra. The house was very well equipped and my 1 and 3 year old kids loved the garden. Dunkeld and the surrounding areas offered plenty to keep us entertained. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay. The three bathrooms make it a really comfortable stay for 8 people. The garden has a sunny seating area and the whole place is very well equipped. The lovely village of Dunkeld is on the door step with its delis, smoke house, whiskey shop and bakery. The walk at the back of the house takes you up to the wildlife reserve at the Loch of the Lowes and it's a short hop to the magical forest of giant Douglas firs up at the Hermitage.

Cottage did not disappoint! Three generations age 14 to 82. Everything we needed and more. Lovely open plan kitchen / diner with doors opening into pleasant garden. Used the outdoor eating space both lunchtime and evening in sunshine. Comfy beds and great bathrooms. Great location walking distance of Dunkeld village with shops and riverside walks and pubs. Lots to see and do in area. Highly recommend.

Just back from a lovely family weekend in beautiful Dunkeld to celebrate my 60th birthday which was delayed from last year because of Covid. House and location was perfect. Six adults and 2 small children. The girls loved the garden and playing on the trampoline, play house and chute. The weather was also perfect and made the stay very enjoyable and relaxing.

About the neighborhood
Tucked away in the heart of central Perthshire, you will discover the Victorian village of Birnam and the picturesque cathedral town of Dunkeld resting on opposite banks of the River Tay. All local amenities are within walking distance from the house. A few highlights are listed below.... Shopping - Local shops in Dunkeld include a butchers, bakers, delicatessen, newsagent, Post Office, Co-op store and some lovely gift/clothes shops. Eating and drinking - Dunkeld offers many different places to eat out and drink from cosy cafes to characterful live music pubs and fine dining at the local hotels and restaurants. Historical & Cultural Attractions - Dunkeld Cathedral Birnam Arts Centre and Beatrix Potter exhibition. The centre offers an exciting events programme of music, theatre, comedy and dance. Wildlife - Wildlife is abundant, with many birds of prey living in the area and wild deer roaming the fields and our front garden! The osprey nesting site is at Loch of the Lowes, only 2 miles away. A good selection of books, maps and leaflets is available at the house for plenty more ideas! Dunkeld is a fantastic location to explore central Scotland and other nearby towns of interest such as Pitlochry and Aberfeldy are easily reached where there are many more things to see and do.
Getting around
Dunkeld is a lovely wee village and getting around is best on foot as it is all within a couple of minutes walk to the centre of the village. If going further afield then there is a no 23 bus service to Perth, Aberfeldy etc that departs from across the road (timetables available at Perth and Kinross council website). For even further afield then there is Dunkeld and Birnam railway station where you can travel direct to Aviemore, Glasgow, Edinburgh. The station is about a 15 minute walk and it is a truly picturesque piece of Victorian architecture!
